I see many posting their work in Art, Writing, and Music. I'd like to do the same for a video game in this forum. I'm building my game with Unity 3D. Here's what I have so far...

In this video:

- main menu loads saved characters or deletes existing to start over
- character generation screen
- character customization: hair style and color, face style, skin tone, width and height scale
- all information saved and loaded into game
- equipped items automatically scale to match character's scale
- character panel displays stats and abilities from character generation

In this video:

- new terrain
- functional chest with sound fx and particle effects
- randomly generated items with basic stats appear in chest
- looted items appear in inventory
- items can be equipped from inventory to mount points on character
- weapon can be removed from mount point or replaced with another weapon
- functional portals with sound fx

For fun I increased the number of mobs and increased their aggro radius to 100. Basically an instant aggro the moment I teleport into their area. I'll post periodic video updates.

Older videos
Testing my mob spawn generator and aggro radius
Terrain "holes" inside Dungeon Entrance - abandoning. I'm not happy with the results. Going to switch over to portals.
My first attempt creating a terrain in Unity before the project was corrupted :(

Any feedback? :)

Cool! I like your videos :)

I've never heard of the Unity Platform before... It looks really good on their website. I'll have to try it. My programming is largely based in operational type stuff (Business continuity, montoring and recovery, etc), but I alway am trying to find new things to expand on that.

Cheers!

This looks more like a Shoot & Loot Game than a Role-Playing Game.

Does character generation go beyond cosmetic appearance? Are there any tradeoffs for race, age, gender, or social class? What about professions, hobbies, and interests - would a character gain any special abilities for these?

Or is it all about defeating an opponent, looting the body, searching for treasure, and then looking for the next opponent?

@Fnord - I'm not even there yet. We'll find out together. :)

@xowe - If you know C#, JavaScript, or Moo then you're all set. If you know OOP and basic programming stuff you'll have the foundational knowledge to go. Unity documented their scripting engine very well. There are plenty of walk-thrus and how-to articles and videos for Unity to show you how to make a game from scratch.

Finished hand painting the terrain. I think it looks much better than before.

Only watched the first 20 seconds but from what I can gather some sort of satanic, demon overlord has crossed through entire dimensions in order to capture the princess.

She has a lot of enemies :(

@kxmode: You should totally put in a 'cursed' item or something that makes certain enemies 'aggro' like that and simply stand around your character. Just a fun extra :/
