The Silent Hill Games

This is a topic for discussing the survival horror video game series by Konami, set in a spooky American town of the same name where disturbing monsters lurk around the dark foggy streets and the world shifts around every time the protagonist enters a new building.

So what do you guys think of the original games made by Team Silent compared to the current games made by Climax Studios?

I personally perfer the old games made by Team Silent which includes Silent Hill 1 through 4. They were the ones who created the lore of the town and seemed to just have a better way of handeling the games with their use of music, graphic effects, and story telling. My reason for not liking the new games by Climax is that they really don't add anything special to the lore, they seem to focus more on the game mechanics then they do the story and character development of the games which in my opinion is what's supposed to make a survival horror game so great.

Anyways Konami is coming out with an HD Collection in January which includes Silent Hill 2 and 3 together for the PS3 and 360. Even though a lot of fans are angry about the change in voice acting (not that it bothers me that much), I'm still going to get it because I really miss playing the classic horror games. Plus it'll be nice to play the games with updated graphics.

Silent Hill - I've never played it
Silent Hill 2 - I've played it dozens of times over and over, it's one of my favorite games
Silent Hill 3 - I never finished it, but the parts I did play I enjoyed
Silent Hill 4: The Room - I played it and enjoyed it, although it didn't have the same feel as the others
Silent Hill: Origins - I played it and thought it was just ok
Silent Hill Homecoming - I liked this one, but I didn't find it scary att all

I like the Silent Hill series. I love the story and the psychological aspects of it. I love survival horror games, but there isn't very many being made currently, which is why I'm eagerly awaiting Silent Hill Downpour. I think it might have more of the Homecoming feel instead of the feel of the older games, but I'm foolishly hoping it will be like the older games. I just want a game that makes me feel creeped out like older survival horror games did.

I'm getting that HD collection as soon as it comes out. I'll get to play 2 again and retire my old Xbox copy of it, and I'll get to replay and actually finish 3.

That would be so awesome for you to get to beat Silent Hill 3. It's actually my favorite game in the series, Sient Hill 2 was a great game but I perfer 3 because it had some really cool easter eggs and extras to unlock. Plus even though I'm a guy I perfer playing as a female protagonist.

I'm hoping that this port of Silent Hill 2 will at least contain the Born from a Wish scenario where you get to play as Maria and see what she was doing before she met James. I never got to play it because it was only on the Xbox version of the game.

my favourite has to be silent hill 2, i just loved everything about it but what clinched it was the amazing monster known as Pyramid Head!
