I got an e-mail from Blizzard that I can pre-purchase the "Heart of the Swarm" expansion set for Starcraft 2, apparently being released on 12 March 2013. Unfortunately, I don't have an internet banking account. I wonder if I can pre-order it. Anyway, I can't wait for it to come out.

I also want see Kerrigan's story. The thing is, after posting on as well as reading other peoples posts on the blizzards Starcraft 2 forums, I've noticed that a lot of people want Kerrigan to remain totally evil rather than have some kind of redemption story. In fact, that was one of their main complaints about the "Wings of Liberty" story, when the closing scene was of Raynor carrying Kerrigan into the sunset, they actually wanted him to be the one to kill her. I disagree with this and at least hope there will be some choice missions where you can choose to good or evil (sort of like the choice mission in "Wings of Liberty" where you could choose to side with Selendis and purge Haven of the Zerg infestation or choose to help the colonists).

Back on the topic, here is an IGN video about the upcoming release. It also mentions that theres a "Digital Deluxe" version as well as a collectors edition.

Sorry to dig this up, but Heart of the Swarm has been released today. Has anyone had a chance to play it yet?

Happy belated birthday.

I played the first level so far and like it. The story is interesting and I predict twists in this one as well. Not going to throw any spoilers in. Can`t wait to play it some more, so addicted.

I haven't played a lot of missions yet.

But they take the "Swarm" part of "Heart of the Swarm" quite seriously .

Oh, sorry, was that your *planet*?

Blizzard has now been appointed as honorary chairman of The Society for The Preservation of Zerglings (and once you reach a certain stage in the campaign, this statement actually makes sense).

I think they removed the game mechanic that you're referring to.

Well... just played it all the way through. It was great, don't get me wrong... but $40 for less than a week? Poor investment. :(

A bulk of the content is the multiplayer.

What difficulty level did you play it on? I know the campaign is easier than Wings of Liberty, that's why I started playing it on hard. I was disappointed when I first heard that the campaign was shorter than WoL as well but I got the collectors addition anyway because I also finished WoL in 3 days on normal when I first got it. Apparently, Blizzard made the decision to make the campaign shorter because too many people never finished WoL apparently.

I got the game mainly for the campaign and story, actually. I don't really play multiplayer.

Same. Too many rotten, smug kids to beat me and laugh... not what I'd call "fun".

You can also play with teams against the computer, that should be pretty fun and not too competitive. A good way to learn the units as well.

I also suggest trying user made games under arcade. There are tons to choose from with different ways to play. I recently saw one called The Thing based on the movie, sounds interesting to try. I play Aeon of Storms a lot, its dota style game thats very competitive, but easier to play since you control only one hero.
