worst mmo i have found
alot of people i run into online, no one specific just random people. but anyway i often voice my hatred of mmos and no one really knows why, mostly because it's a long story and difficult for me to confront.
anyway the first mmo i started playing was conquer online, the community was the cesspool of the internet, if there is a place on the net were all the jerks and as*holes lurk it's here. if you could find anyone decent it was very rare.
when i started out playing i was killed within 5 minutes, no one on the game believes me, but i remember clearly, it was a small female lvl 60 to 80 trojan with black tied up hair, either had two clubs or a club and a sword, also i left out the south east gate, that was 4+ years ago if i was lying i couldn't remember it so vividly.
this game had a system to it not the gameplay or anything like that, but more like a way the community worked, powerlvling was a big part of the game and it was used and abused. their were several people called powerlevelers, they were always high level archers. the seeeker was one and napster became one later on. these guys would powerlevel water toaists or often know as the white mage, these waters as they were called were almost always an alt a different character that someone had made, most alts were made by a high level player and if you kill the alt the person will hunt you down on their main character, most of the time they will kill you repeatedly for several days straight. guild wars happened alot for this reason.
anyway these archers who i swear were payed would level these mages all day, so they could reborn. and a reborn is a powerful character, usually with way more power, most people would start out a water and reborn into an trojan, so they could have dual wielding and buffs. and it's common knowledge everyone who started out as a water are lazy and have no skill in the game whatsoever, well when you pay an archer to do the work for you and you sit behind your guard like a bum and never level yourself there is no way you could be skilled. the ones that were skilled were any other class because waters were the only ones that got powerleveled.
and if you were in one of these areas called spawn points and a powerleveler wanted it, they'd kill you and take it, regardless if you just happened to be there by random chance or stumbled into the area by accident, i died alot for this reason. it would have helped if they told me to leave, i would have. but most of the time they didn't have the damn decency.
pkers were like their own gang they were notorious players who hunted the rest of us like stalkers, being in a guild was nearly essential to survival, in a guild all the guild members kept tabs on the where the pkers were at all times if one was in an area the rest of the guild would go to another zone if they weren't already. helena and shadow king were the most feared, i hated both with a passion. and the stalked me like they had a grudge or something. when you got pked the person's name was put on your list, mine was always changing because the list could only hold 20 or so names at one time, that was how often i was killed, my list was always refreshing itself.
and i never did anything to piss anyone off on purpose anyway, if offended anyone it was by accident. not that most of them deserved my respected though. after this game followed a new rule "treat others how they treat you", i was hardly ever nasty these people and i got a hot poker up the ass every hour. i don't respect others unless i get respect now.
alot of people talk about camping in games, in conquer someone would sit on top of your loot so couldn't click it, you one of two choices, kill the camper or leave the item, a low level could be easily killed, but if a reborn or a high level was camping you were screwed.most pkers were reborns and you couldn't do jack about them, you only chance was getting in the city and pray they would give up, or pray that the guards could kill them, city guards kill black named players instantly black named players had a ton of pk points, pk points were a gauge of how often and how many you killed. helena had about 1 million, a long running joke was guessing how long helena would have to wait to lose all the points, we estimated about a year, you lose 1 point per hour.
and most now whine about getting teabagged, honestly i would have not minded that much, most pkers would kill you and leave like you were less then dirt to them, having a bit of acknowledgement would have been nice every so often. if they did acknowledge you it was to ridicule you or mock you.
is it any wonder why i hate pvp, really!?
i couldn't log on for a few minutes without getting pked.
account sharing was common, heck me and dice shared narcore my trojan and sky rista my archer, that was untill my last guild leader trip yelled at me one day. well he didn't yell but was a bit pissed, he asked me if i was on my trojan recently, i said no, he knew dice used the account, he told me to change my password right then and there. so i did. i explained it to dice and he understood, it seemed he got into a problem with a guild member in fight club [my guild] and killed them on my trojan.
there also were two types of guild wars, there were the offical guild wars, and random ones, i was never in an offical one but watched many random guild wars, they were fought in ape city or ac as it was known ac had the least amount of guards. guards killed anyone who pked so wars were harder to start in other areas. when one started they attracted a bit of crowd. legendz and chaos crew were the two that would fight.
also you got killed often if you had a dragonball or a meteor in your inventory, heck if you been out farming and some one knew you were you'd die before you got to the city, the game was like online highschool, if you weren't the most popular or had the most friends you got screwed over, you'd have to pull teeth and threaten to get help of any kind it seemed like.
i think this explains why i hate mmos, not all my memories were bad but most were.
and to clearify i am not angry at anyone here, i am not directing this at anyone except the ones i named.
i'm pretty sure i missed alot of subjects that's all i can remember right now, i was on volcano server.

I hate MMOs too. Most of those that get to a certain level act like a jerk about it. What is the point? Personally in my experience, there is no enjoyment from MMOs, only some snobs who act like superiors or gods that others idol to be at that level which is total garbage. I lose interest by these games being somewhat complex in the interface or keyboard shortcuts whereas offline you may not need to use all of the keys on the keyboard to defeat a monster. Plus I think adaptability differs from online and offline gameplay.

Sora: "My friends are my power."
Ventus: "I'm asking you as a friend. Just... put an end to me."
yeah i know where you are coming from, all the high levels on conquer were by default above everyone else. when i played wow and rift even at a higher level i was never cocky, heck in rift i was often in the low level zones helping out closing rifts, if someone called out for help and whether it was near or far i'd go to help out.
in fact alot of times in rift if i was in silverwood i would often be put in a group because i think they knew i always helped out, i know what it's like working through the lower levels, and every player was low level once. i just think they get an ego trip and ignore that.
but yeah i perfer offline as well, heck with online games now loading times are ridiculous on the consoles. i turn of the net on my ps3 when i play most of my games anymore.
