Do the stars next to the items represent anything meaningful? I understand that they are supposed to suggest what is better for your character at the time, but it doesn't seem to be great rating system. For instance, a ring that gives "+5% fire damage" might get three stars, while a ring that gives "+5% fire damage/ 5 to mana or stamina" would get two stars. Obviously, the two star ring is better because it has exactly what the three star ring has, plus more. Should I just ignore the star system?

It's been a while since I've played Dragon Age 2, but I never understood what they meant either. Maybe it's how rare that item is?
