Hello I really enjoy the game Orbiter alot it is a realistic space flight sim. If anyone else plays it maybe we could play together?

Here is the link in case you've never come across this gem.

It's a really awesome open source sim. Sadly don't have the time to fiddle around with it as much as i'd like too

i like orbiter very much. i have managed to get to the moon, but it takes very much calculation to do so.

i am going to try to go to mars next, but i have to consider a serious number of variables in order to intersect the martian orbit, let alone enter into it's atmosphere and land.

i have a version of the jupiter 2 (from lost in space) which has infinite fuel, so i can spend much energy in forcing my way through errors in vector analysis.

i am a bit disappointed at the low resolution of the earth at low altitudes, and it is not until i am about 90,000 ft up that the earth starts to look real.

i have perfected the trip from heathrow to sydney australia in the delta glider, and i have extreme fun during the 90 minute trip.

but for trips to the moon and beyond, many aspects have to be pre calculated in order to achieve a successful intercept and touchdown. i know how to achieve orbit around the earth, but the moment of ejection from earth orbit that will place me in an intersection vector with the moons orbit is very much more difficult.

i have 2 crude videos that i made of my orbiter flights. one is just an ascent into a earth orbit to deploy a satellite, and the other is a fantasy video of the jupiter 2 leaving the earths orbit bound for no where in particular.

i did the music for the first video, and in the second video, i just recorded the generic sound that is native to orbiter.

i agree is is a staggeringly interesting program.

here are the 2 videos.

this is a sequence that shows the deployment of a low earth orbit satellite. the ground below is the florida "panhandle"

and this video is a fantasy that i, as the b9 robot, decided i wanted to be lost in space again, and took off with simply the aim of escaping from earths orbit and also the solar system. considering the claimed power of the J2, it is possible to exit earth gravity in the manner i executed in the video.
the maximum g-force in this clip is 4 g's.
