Sega signs distro deal with Atlus.

Joystiq wrote:
Index Holdings, parent company of developer and publisher Atlus, is looking to take advantage of Sega's significantly larger distribution network in Japan, announcing intentions to partner with the Japanese publisher for future distribution. The deal kicks off in April 2012 and will see games across Atlus' various properties distributed under the Sega moniker in Japan.

The deal doesn't apply to digitally distributed titles, and it's unclear if this will affect Atlus' distribution in other parts of the world. It seems that the distribution deal arises from Index Holdings' consistently declining revenues and an inability to support Atlus' growth in its most important market. We've reached out to Atlus for further comment.

Atlus better bring Valkyria Chronicles over to the west then. :P

That's disappointing. It sounds like Atlus is having financial difficulty and needs Sega more than Sega need Atlus. I've always found the games they publish to be a bit of a mixed bag, but there's no other publisher in Japan that so consistently releases original, left field games internationally. Demon's Souls, Catherine, the Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series, the Princess Crown series.

From the wording of the article, I doubt the partnership will affect Sega's release schedule. And... hasn't Valkyria Chronicles already been released in the West? I know I've had my copy for several years.

Well...if SEGA can get Atlus more publicised then why not? Although their marketing is awful usually (Big SEGA fan here).

I think ATLUS did a bad move for one reason...they have always been good at publishing in Japan...and so are SEGA for that matter.

I think that's a good thing, since SEGA and ATLUS will only need minimal time to prepare their schedules in the partnership.

Sorry, I meant the third game. Atlus could pull this off and make money on it better then SEGA could.
