Okay, what video games do you think have Aspie characters in them?

The Metroid series comes to my mind immediately. I can't really explain why, but Samus Aran always struck me as being something other than neurotypical.

That makes a lot of sense and I like it too; being autistic myself and having an obsession with Samus and the Metroid series. I really can't think of any because no game that I know of goes into such detail, they leave everything up to the player.

I don't recall Samus having much of a personality in any of the Metroid games I've played, so I don't know how one can come to any conclusion about her. I haven't played the Gamecube versions though.

Snake family from MGS series. Big Boss in MGS3 has trouble understanding relationships between the characters and is often kidded by EVA and the Major for this. In MGS1:TTS Solid Snake didn't pick up on basic facial gestures of other characters and always spoke in an arrogant manner. I'm not even starting on the rest of them. Suffice to say I believe every Snake is an aspie.

One thing you have to observe about Samus.

How many people are there actually there to talk to? Who would Samus interact with? A floating brain monster? A cybernetic sentient pterodactyle? A lifeforce sucking bag of intestines?

It's not like she's going to go up to a random space pirate and say

"So, what are your views on intelligent design?"

There's no way of telling how Samus interacts socially at all, besides the fact that she kills things for a living.

Alice from "American McGee's Alice." That whole tortured world takes place in her mind...technically schizophrenia just as much, but few schizophrenics are SO obsessed with their hallucinations that they become completely enveloped in an imaginary nightmare, where NOTHING is real and it's 100% in their head. Thanks to haunting memories she can't help but obsess about, combined with the rocks of puberty, Alice's imagination goes nuts and turns on her. It's such a dark game...a lot of aspies have these really obsessive tormented minds, and Alice is just like that.

Glottis from "Gim Fandango" (kudos to whoever has played that game!!). Dude, the guy knows cars. That's it. HE IS OBSESSED WITH CARS, AND NOTHING ELSE! Okay, technically he's an elemental spirit who's entire existance is based on cars, but...heh. Plus, the guy has no social skills or friends (apart from Manny).

I got a feeling of aspie-ness from a few characters in "The Longest Journey."

One could also argue that the characters in the "Sims" games resemble aspies; turn on free will and let them interact with each other if you don't believe me. Their social decisions tend to be...awful.

Ha, sims. Now that's a nice one.

Yes, I've done precisely that same thing in an attempt to test the limits and flaws of the engine, but not so much to gauge their fictional mental state.

Gordan Freeman from half life never talks... you just go through the whold world/game interacting but never communicating.

Alice was definately a cool game too, loved the art direction in that. Some of the rooms were awesome, much treats for the senses.

Well, ALL of them seem to be kinda Autis. 'Specially XI, cause he acts so much like me it ain't funny.
It kinda fits on another scale, a common humansk myth is that Autista are "Missing something".
Hehe, like a human superiority complex. I've got an Autista Superiority complex, much nicer, more logical!

Gordon Freeman is probably Autistic, someone quoted "To be a scientist, you have to be at least slightly autistic".
Hell, Dr Breen seems Autistic too. Who would have the spleen to bargain for a crushed humanity? Who could then turn to his fellow *cough* humans and subject them to a lingering fate? A human wouldn't be able to cope with the difficulty of Administration on that level.

Now, if anyones played Guilty Gear, you'll find that A.B.A, Testament and Sol all display Autistic traits, with A.B.A WAY further on the spectrum, with her total obseesion with keys.
