So what is your opinion on the most famous RPG created, do you find it to be over-rated? Did you fall in love with the game?
How did you react to the key moments or even the little things?
To be honest I do really like this game but don't want to play it at the moment as I fear Aerith/Aeris will be gone at this point so I'm reluctant to play unless I have another healer in due time.

I love that game. I wish they did a HD remake, then I'd be happy.

If Square Enix do which I doubt so far. I reckon it will sell more than CoD and WoW put together.
I just wonder if it will change as the original did have vulgar language (mostly by Barret) and I just think they could use cutscenes in the way they made AC which was set after these events.
Also I reckon they would take bits out like some mini games in Gold Saucer which are okay.

It would indeed be amazing if they made a new HD version of FF7!! ! I would totally buy it in an instant! I heard they were making a Final Fantasy 10 HD remake :(. Although I loved 10 but 7 was the best! Did anyone see the remake they did make for the intro though? It was so awesome! :D I really don't know why they don't do it because like you say PastFixations, they would rake in a hell of a lot of money for the remake. The game was very long though, I do think some things will possibly be taken out and maybe some scenes will be completely redone?

The PS3 runs the old FF:VII in up-scaled HD.

I find it over-rated, not because it isn't good, but because the audience that it catered to played it as their first RPG, ESPECIALLY in Europe where you get these 15/18 years olds squealing over VII over every other FF.

I prefer X myself. :)

Yep it was one of the few really good games for the over-rated PS1 which is why it was a lot of peoples first RPG. FF:VII's graphics aren't very good either even for the standards of the time it was released.

It's overrated, but still one of the best RPGs ever made. It has a perfect blend of story, balance, etc that's needed to make a good game.

Not to mention that it brought up some topics that were unheard of in video games, including brothels, cross-dressing, and threatening to crush someone's testicles (and that's all within about a half-hour of play).

It's not really the same though.
I have the PS1 Version and it's not really upscaled or in true HD, the screen size of the game is smaller than my TV screen.
That's like getting an old NES game, putting it on 3DS and saying it becomes 3D if you wear 3D glasses.
Maybe if you buy the PSN Version then perhaps that is the case why you mentioned the upscaling, otherwise I don't really get how it is in HD which is supposed to have great picture quality and without all the blockiness of the characters.

The majority of FFVII is prerendered. Very little in rendered with polygons. Upscaling will not affect anything but the polygonal assets.

I have no doubt Square Enix would make a reasonable profit from an HD remake. The real question is whether they can make a decent product nowadays that isnt a rehash of their past.

The way I see it, it was the right game at the right time, in the right market and that's why it's so popular. First FF to switch format from Cartridges to CD's, with a media campaign to clearly promote it in new(er) markets targetting our technophile generation ; which is why I view it in the same light as the iPod.

If it wasn't for FFVII - would games like Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Warcraft be popular? Or Everquest, Grandia? For a company that was respectable but generally lower leagues to the likes of Eidos, Sega, Capcom, Namco. FFVII was the ticket to the big leagues, like MGS1 for Konami.

Overrated? Yes. Enjoyable? Yes. Revolutionary? Definitely.

A Final Fantasy:VII remake would probably be very similar to what Square Enix did with "Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories" for the Gameboy Advance. It got a remake on the PS2 with completely different graphics.

PS Vita is the most likely system it would be for in my opinion.

When I was a kid I thought it was the best thing ever, but came to dislike some things. I always found the part of the game where the heroes have no plan to stop meteor and decide to devote themselves to sabotaging Shinra's efforts to save the world from it for lack of anything better to do confusing.

Later I played FF6(3), which I like a lot better.

Wasn't that only released in Japan? I think your talking about KH2:Final Mix+ if I recall correctly where it appeared as part of the KH2:FM story.

I don't think so. I'll bet 9 out of 10 people that played KH1/KH2 hadn't played KH:COM until the PS2 version. I find that hilarious since KH:COM takes place between KH1/KH2. Here's the cases for the U.S. releases of them.

Wow... I had no idea it was a seperate game altogether on PS2. I knew about the GBA version since it was released in Europe but PS2 version was not.
To be fair though I didn't play KH:CoM because I was put off by the whole card system.
Back on topic though, I totally like the music even if some of it is the same music used in all of the series.
