I thought it would be fun to make up a thread of fun ideas to do when you're playing The Sims. Sometimes I get bored with my family scenario and I like to come up with creative ideas. Some of the things I did so far were:

-make up my future family
-make up my current family
-make a Sims generation legacy
-make families from television programs and movies
-made a daycare
-made a boarding school
-made a nursing home
-made a jail

Who has some other creative ideas for The Sims when you're bored of the same old thing?

Vampire Families (expansions required)
Fairytales
Haunted houses
Alien familes

Insane Asylum? Call it Wrong Planet

At one point, I created a character in The Sims 3. I didn't build a house for him, so he was homeless.
Then I tried getting him rich through skills.

Right now I'm working on building a whole town from scratch. I got the rabbit hole doors and am making new community locations. (the others are way too big)
Once I have the town built I'm going to try and fill it with families before I play in that town. I want to get everything set up and then let the story progression mod do its work.

I often make boarding schools, or have one or two teenage sims try to raise children.

Here are some fun things I've done in The Sims 2.

Some of these may require SimPE, or a mod such as Insiminator. If you want to know how I did any of these just ask.

- Run an organized crime empire. (Including mobsters, counterfeiters, prostitutes, and contract killers.)
- Play as Dexter, leading a normal life with a wife and kids, meanwhile killing townies and hiding their remains.
- Play as Octomom with her 14 children.
- Play as Antonio Cromartie and have children with everyone in town.
- Kidnap the social worker when she tries to take your kids.
- Run an asylum. (I used a hypnotic wheel item that makes sims insane. Didn't think to name it WP though, good call Trigas.)
- Make an adult with the behaviors of a toddler (crawls, sleeps in crib... but has the body of an adult. Use SimPE.)
- Make a sim with a male voice and a female body. (SimPE)
- Make extremely short or tall sims. (SimPE)
- Make a family with the Grim Reaper as the father.
- Make a family with the Vampire Queen as the mother.
- Make a family of inbred hicks that live in a trailer and breed more inbred hicks.
- Make a family of evil clones that attack everyone they meet.
- Build a full-sized mall with all kinds of stores, a movie theater, video arcade, dining area, etc...
- Run a successful business selling nothing but toilets and toilet accessories.
- Live as a vampire and roam the nighclubs for innocent-looking townie sims to sire.
- Marry a zombie.

I once created a bunch of Sims, locked them all up where they couldn't get out, gave them the essentials, just to see what they would do.

Sorry to bump an old topic but rather than creating a new thread exactly the same, I thought I might as well add some ideas, as I'm on the Sims a lot. Here's some of mine (I have Sims 2 by the way, and these ideas are better with the expansion packs):-

Make a haunted house by building an abandoned-looking house, move in some Sims then kill them, then move in a Sim couple
Make a party house
Make a busy household by having a single parent move in with 7 kids (use the ''motherlode'' cheat so the adult doesn't have to work)
Build a peaceful country cottage surrounded by flowers and trees and a pond
Make your dream life
Get a Sim pregnant and use the cheat to make her have twins, triplets or quads (forgotten the cheat but you will find it somewhere on a Sims cheat site)
Move in 7 different adult Sims; a depressed loner, a goth, a nerd, a tart, a homosexual, a hippy, and one that's sporty
Build a swimming-pool in the back garden
Have some Sims form a band, using every musical instrument you have in the Sim catalogue

I wasn't creative. I just copied the real world into The Sims 3 and simulated it.

I usually have crazy ideas in my the Sims 3 games (EPs up to Supernatural, Nraas cheats). I never created any normal family.

Some of what I tried:

- A family with a human daughter + a girl of a supernatural specie the same age. May be twins or the family may "adopt" the supernatural baby. Making the girls growing up differently (human girl - normal human life, supernatural girl - a wierdo focused on her abilities and discovering past)
- Get a woman impregnated by Grim reaper. Raise the child (wierdo).
- An orphanage with an alien child(wierdo) among 6 human children.
- Get a sim married to an alien. They come with spaceships!
- Another orphanage - every children different specie.
- A desert island (you need to install a custom world), a single teenager casted there and working to survive and build a "boat" (a house on water) to go back to civilization.
- Another castaway. The teenage meets natives, grows up with them and starts a family once adult.
- A teenager fascinated by aliens/vampires/whatever. Do anything so he/she meets the specie. Get him/her abducted if fascinated by aliens, ask a vampire to change him/her if fascinated by vampires etc.
- A teenager fascinated by a foreign culture. Do anything to travel to the country as often as possible (World Adventures SP), get enough visa lvl and move there once adult.
- Get a sim with unusual look and start a family. Watch which of his/her offsprings inherit the features and choose one of them as your next family when the chosen child grows up. Repeat till your favorite genes get lost.
