Problems with communication via Teamspeak while playing WoW
Is anyone out there with aspergers doing high rated arena? For me it's difficult to play with teamspeak or skype. I dont understand the underlying sounds. I dont know if someone yells for help when he says „I'm feared“ or just shares some information. I used to play without ts/skype in tbc but nearly all high rated teams nowadays use it. I tried to state my problem and asked them to be more clear. I told them that they should say „help“ if they want help or „I'm feared, need dispel now“ if they want an instant dispel. But they seem to forget it after a few minutes of gaming and continue to use their normal language. When I have to start thinking about what they mean, it interrupts my own play. I cant play and think about what they mean, thinking about the underlying meaning of spoken language is difficult enough to let me fail pretty hard.
I like wow... It helped me a lot with improving my communication skills but it gets more and more frustrating if you dont find a group, just because you're unable to communicate in a normal way via teamspeak or skype.
Anyone here having the same problems? Or anyone here who would like to play with me without using teamspeak/skype? Playing on Stormscale EU.
Any ideas on how to solve that problems are also welcome...
(if you want to add me via email or my name, just let me know via pm.. I dont like to put my email address in a public forum)
I recognize that problem. I remember how stressful it could be just playing WoW without teamspeak, and that my mind would get distracted when I tried to understand what people really meant. I think one way to solve that is to just play the game in your own way and don't use so much spare thought on trying to understand. Don't play the game the way they want, just do it on your own, weird way, and try to still do whatever you need to do to win. You don't necessarily need social skills, or to be social at all, to win games like that. (hint: mechanical)
I don't know if that helps
That works for even high rated RBG but I think not for high rated Arena (but maybe I'm playing with the wrong people...). Every 4 to 5 matches we lose one because of some stupid misunderstanding on my side. They say "Ok, let's rush in" -> Everybody including me rushes in -> we lose. What did they mean? "Ok, we rush in and you wait. We do not want to have your fear opener." Afterwards I get an explanation and know what they meant. 5 Games later, another sentence like that, I misinterpret it and we fail again. After I got the explanation of their strategy, that they had in mind, it's fine. But apparently people seem to leave after 30 or 40 matches because of those misunderstandings on my side.... right after the moment when I know a bit of their playstyle and how they think.
I tried to state my problem, I tried to ask for a clearer statement than just "let's rush in" but nobody I've met so far did do that... During TBC I played with a silent warrior, we had huge communication issues the first few weeks but we somehow managed to overcome it. Need more of those people.
Yeah. If people just don't learn this, or bother to learn, there is nothing to do really. It is their fault, and they will fail much more than they will win because of that. It is nothing you can do, you are right to try to explain them. I just think that this is a typical thing you'll see on the internet, social problems are ignored, not so relevant and people just don't bother. It's the very negative side of the Internet. Only choice is to go IRL
