Just recently, during a hunt in the bargain bin of my local Wal-Mart, I came across a collection of Sega Genesis games for the Xbox 360. Included in the little bundle happened to be pretty much all of the Sonic titles.

My god I missed how simple games where.

No Lock on if you mean the Ultimate Mega Drive Collection (or Genesis).

S&K is great, my favorite levels are sky sanctuary and level reef zone! Sonic 2 is still my fav Sonic game ever though!

If I'm guessing right, you have the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection. Best collection I've seen so far (Though apparently the Japanese version has a few more games in it... wtf...). Totally worth the money.

I agree! :)

I grew up playing the N64(though I never got to play any of the classics as a kid) and Gamecube, but I love retro games just as much, if not more than modern games. The Genesis Sonic games are great.

Playing through Sonic 3 & Knuckles as Tails or Knuckles was the s**t.

......why did they make playing Sonic so freaking boring, though? His little flame shields and crap don't even begin to compare to being able to fly or climb walls and glide. The only time it was any fun was when you had a second player to control Tails.

I couldn't stand Knuckles. His low jumping just really annoyed me.

I loved the shields. They were a great way to do different tricks and what not. And Sonic could still easily bypass most of what Tails or Knuckles could do, with some exceptions, with his superior speed.

Then again, Super Tails was just insane. Way too OP of a transformation.

Was Sonic faster than the other two? Aside from the shield gimmicks and being able to jump slightly higher than Knuckles, he didn't seem to have any other benefits.

He was a bit faster, yes. I also forgot that he has that second-shield when you press jump twice. Though most people don't always use that, as there's few situations where it would help outside of bosses.

Then again, Super Sonic was even faster than the other two, and Hyper Sonic could double-jump which would also damage enemies at the same time.

Each had their own little specialties that made them fun to play, I suppose. But no extra zone if you play as the others.

I used to kill myself with Hyper Sonic's double jump. It was really hard to control sometimes.

Super Tails was like BEAT from Mega Man 5, except that there were 4 of them....and you were invincible...and you could fly :P .

I know, but I'll live without it. I never had the lock on as a kid either.

The worst part of Super Sonic was falling into the spike pit in the mystic cave zone and having to wait for all your wings to deplete so you could die since there was no way to get out.

That was part of what made that zone genius. It's one of my favorite zones.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm quite certain in one of the collections you can unlock the locked-on games.....
