Recently I have rediscovered Dragon Age, and I seem to enjoy it! As it is I put in over 8 hours (4 yesturday and 4 today), and am at the point in the game where we have recruited an assassin. However I am a bit lost, I now have the option of going to the Dwarfs for help OR going to the Witches for help, well for some reason on the map I cant get to the witches land. Is this supposed to happen?

Also this just might be my opinion but I like Dragon Age more then the Elder Scrolls Series? Why is this? Does anyone else find that both game series are similar but have a preference for one over the other and why? Dont get me wrong I dont particulary dislike the Elder Scrolls Series, I just like Dragon Age better. It seems the story line and fighting style in Dragon Age is more my style.

To get tho the Tower of Magi, where the mages are you need to go to Lake Calenhad and talk to the templer on the bridge after a bit of talk he will take you over to the mages tower.
Dragon age is my favorite game to play and I must have played both Origins and Dragon age 2 over 10 times each. I do prefer it to the elder scroll series (even though I enjoy those games too) mainly because of the characters. I really enjoyed being able to talk to and learn about each character individually. That and I feel more involved in the Dragon Age storyline. I also prefer the art and combat style in DA, in the Elder Scrolls series I'm constantly having to click to attack it's much easier to have all my attacks neatly arranged on screen.

Dragon Age 1 was a very good game. Dragon Age 2 was terrible compared to the first. They mucked up so many things. I still say the Elder Scrolls are much better.

Step 1: Make a mage.

Step 2: Recruit Morrigan.

Step 3: Recruit that old mage chick.

Step 4: Recruit Alistar.

Step 5: Roll your face across the keyboard. You win!

You sound like you think Elder Scrolls somehow should be better.

In my opinion they're almost different genres. The playstyle and story delivery is just so different between the two (from what I've seen; never finished a game in either series). To answer your question I think it just comes down to preference. Different people like different things and that's just the way it works.

Personally I love rpgs with interesting abilities. Using Risen 2 as an example, I much prefer this over Dragon Age because I get to master interesting skills like thievery (done in plenty of games, but maybe not so common to see monkey/parrot training, firebreathing tricks etc.) and voodoo to use not only in combat but just to mess around with people in towns and stuff like that. Anyway it just comes down to preference. Figure out what you like and seek out more of it!

I like Origins *and* DA2 better than TES. I'm re-playing Origins for the 100th time right now, in fact.
