How many people here play Warhammer? I love playing as Necron/Eldar and usdually balance my ranged attacks with melee attacks.

Love my striking scorpions as well.

Some conversation starter ideas: Favorite books/plot elements/artwork (I can really talk about THAT), funny game moments, why you like it, etc.

I've been collecting Warhammer 40k stuff since the Rogue Trader days. My favorite Race/Army is Eldar. I have quite a few Eldar models but, recently I can't find a whole case of them (grr). Quite a few of my models are unpainted and some are unassembled. Even though I enjoy reading the lore and collecting the models I haven't been as successful in painting them.

I've also not actually played the game as much as I've liked since my main gaming haunts have closed and, my gaming has turned more focused on the computer. Recently I've been thinking about trying to get into playing again but, I'm a little strapped for purchasing new models. Mainly because I finally found a service that will assemble and paint the minis for me (yes I know most people frown on this).

About 6 months ago I purchased a full Seer Concil on Jetbikes but, now I'm not sure if I even want to use them lol. Oh, I also have a few Tyranid models that I've assembled and painted but I thin most of them are in my lost case. I was looking at some of them that I still can find and saddly the colors have faded and they look like a mess.

I got the IA11 Doom of Mymeara book this year and it is simply amazing. The new Forgeworld Eldar/Eldar Corsair Vehicles are amazing. I've been trying to decide if I want to start a Eldar Corsair army or re-build an Eldar army.

I know that the above is kind of a disjointed steam of consciousness. What your really want to see is pics. So here is my Seer Concil on Jetbikes

I've been playing warhammer 40k for around 6 years, started out with the Tau Empire! And have been playing since then. Currently own 2000pts of Necrons which I have been using to very good effect!

I am also starting up a Space marine army. The Aurora chapter, ordered some of the Transfer sheets off of GW's website and just need to plan a list and get all the paints :)

I don't play the tabletop game any more, but I do count the entire 40k universe as a guilty pleasure. I like the Ciaphas Cain novels, Sandy Mitchell is pretty cool.

I have a lot of Necromunda figures, mostly painted, got a bunch half done which have been staring accusingly at me for six months or so. Next time I've got time on my hands I'll finish them, it's a relaxing hobby.
Now that I'm getting back in to programming, a Necromunda style computer game is a possible project, I've always liked the giant arcology setting. But my heart's not really into programming killy stuff. :?

A Necromunda or Mordheim computer game would be super awesome. I like how they are smaller scale and you have rpg like character developement. I played a very fun Mordheim champaign about 10 years ago where I ran Tryanids as a Posessed Warband.

Yup, I have been playing since the early 90s. Right now I do commission painting, assembly, and conversions as a part time job. It seems to work out well since I am so anal about details.

The Tau didn't seem very powerful from my brief look at their abilities. Eldar seem to be the best middle ground, while tyranids and space marines are very good for ranged and the space wolves and tyranids and necrons are awesome in close combat. I could be wrong.

You're 85% right! The only thing 'Wrong' was the mention of Necrons being awesome in close combat. Whilst they have units which can survive in close combat, killing things in the assault is something Necrons struggle with a lot.

That's why they have the scarabs! Awesome unit if you can get in range with them. Necrons are easily defeated when templates get involved though.

I made a fight on this forum between one of the ODST from Halo and a Cadian Shock-trooper. I hope the Cadian wins. Halo fanboys will probably want to protect the SPARTAN predecessor, but I just find the Cadian to be better trained, seeing that they are equivalent to your ordinary infantry man in their tweens.

I really, really, really would like to get into 40k, but... the price barrier is insurmountable. Well, okay, not really. But honestly, right now I'm fine with owning a handful of Space Marines, and just playing Dawn of War and Space Marine and reading the books and codexes and such. I'm not really smart enough to memorize the rules of the game. Eh, oh wells! The lore and ancillary media really is enough to keep my interested.

All I know is the lore really.

Also, you think that warhammer 40k themed metal would be stupid or cool?

I've been doing some research on the subject. But I for some reason don't like dark futures.

I never played the tabletop game, but I'm a huge fan of the Dawn of War series!
Especially Dark Crusade, brings a lot of good memories of me massing a gigantic army and squish everyone~

How're you playing your Necrons? because I'm in the process of gathering an army, and I have a friend who manages a store so I can get half price minis, I'm thinking of running two squads of Deathmarks and Immortals, maybe another two squads of Warriors, a Triarch Stalker for the twin linked, a Doomsday Ark with a Night Scythe for transporting the Warriors and a couple of Destroyers. Not 100% sure what I want for my HQ's probably some Overlords for Tachyon Arrow but I haven't played enough to really get to grips with the whole game in general. I usually play 'Nids so I'm used to overwhelming people, gotta love Ymrlgarl Genestealers when you pop them out from cover behind your enemies. :D
