So far I've saved up $800.00 that I was going to buy a computer with. Now that I don't do much online gaming(the only thing I really did was Neopets), I'd rather get a computer for Christmas and just go ahead and buy a 360.

I want a simple, 250GB console.I don't want the Kinect or any special edition game bundles. Normally on Amazon they are $299.99. I saw one today that was $315.99. When I showed it to my dad he was asking why it was $315.99. He told me to look at Gamestop for one. Every console on Gamestop's website is either refurbished, a 4GB, an Elite, or a special edition game bundle.

I'd much rather get a basic console and buy my own games instead of buying a bundle that comes with only one game. Besides, I could probably buy more games if I just get a basic console.

My brother told me that the price for the 360 is only an extra 15 bucks. My dad disagrees and says I should wait for holiday bundles to come out. I have no clue what direction I am going to go in. I either pay an extra 15 bucks or I wait possibly for nothing.

What do I do now?

In all honesty, I'd save my money until christmas to see if I was getting a computer. If you don't actually get one, you'll be able to decide from there what is a more important priority and investment. And it's only like 3 months away from now >_>

If you need a computer and buy the 360 now... It'll probably be upsetting if you don't get one and feel you jumped the gun and spent too much on a 360 :?

If you are dead set on the 360 now though... I can't see what the problem of $15 is tacked onto $300. Such a small addition of money added to the price is not actually something to wait 3 months to see if it drops >_>

Unless you want some exclusive on 360, you'll be better off with a computer. Computers easilly beat up current generation consoles these days, at least if you got a decent graphic card.
Unless you wait for the next consoles generation.

They sell used xbox 360's with small hard drives for $99 at a lot of places, I got one and it has been working like new for years. On Amazon there is a $58 250gb hard drive that has a lot of positive reviews. A wired controller is about $31-$40. That's about $197 altogether. Why not wait til Xmas to get one of those set ups and save up for a serious gaming pc rig so you can have the best of both worlds? $1800 will get you the right parts so that can run pretty much any game smoothly.

We've already had those holiday bundles in the UK for a while now. Some of them less than $300. This late in its life cycle I wouldn't bother, unless there was some must have exclusives on there for you or your big into online play with friends. I would personally put that $300 towards a custom built PC which would easily be more powerful than the current consoles.

Keep in mind I'm also very paranoid that the end of the world will happen in December. I feel that I should get an XBOX 360 while I still can if it is true.

Know though that the time of the Xbox 360 is soon over, new generation consoles will come, cheap PC's will destroy Xbox in performance. I was always a Xbox 360 junkie, i bought about 4 Xbox 360's because i got sick of it after a while. Now i got a gaming PC, i can run everything and the new generation games only require me to put in a few new parts. I'd be 100% sure before you put in 300$

The 360 is pretty good at handling games that are notoriously glitchy (*ahem*... SKYRIM), but if it's good games you're after, get a PC or a PS3. The 360's exclusives aren't exactly to die for, if you know what I mean.

I'm all about PC gaming and I can tell you it's not hard to build a GOOD gaming rig for only ~$500... 800 for premium bits and another $200 for a monitor if you need one. $1800 is insane!

depends on where you live as well though.

that said for a pc capable of playing skyrim on high i would expect to pay around 750 - 1000 bucks, people overestimate their needs.

keep in mind some games will never play smoothly no matter how much you throw at them, they are internally flawed, sureme commander is one of those.

Don't worry, it won't happen.

Playing skyrim now at MAX DETAIL with no slowdowns and 4x AA with a lousy Core2Duo 2.4GHz E6600 with a Radeon 7750 video card. The machine cost me $100 (used) and another $100 for the video card.

True, a bigger monitor and higher res than my 1680x1050 might benefit from more, but even a cheap NEW system would run it beautifully with lots of room to grow:

Socket 1155 Celeron G530 processor is $40, a cheap-but-decent mobo to run it on is $70, 8GB DDR3 is $40, a hard drive (if necessary) for $60 and a decent video card around $100. Hmmm... maybe a case if you're not upgrading your old one. $60. That's $300-400 for a real whiz-bang gamer on the cheap. ;)

(Don't let "Celeron" fool you... this latest gen is so dang amazing it outclasses almost EVERYTHING socket 775 before it. For a pathetic $40.)

I got one of the Gamestop bundles refurbished models that included a year warranty. So far I'm happy with it.

The bundle only included at 20GB hard drive, but that has been enough for me.

I'm just going to save up for a new computer and get an XBOX 360 for Christmas this year.
