Chivalry Medieval Warfare is a game inspired by a mod. A true Indie game. The game is a FPS (First Person Slasher) with focus on melee combat. The games has four classes which all have their unique strengths and weaknesses. Important information to know is that this game only has Multiplayer, and a tutorial. The melee combat is so deep, skill actually matters in this game. Damage is realistic as well. One stab of a spear and you are down 75%, 3 hits with a 1 handed mace and your skull turns to dust, 2 hits when you hit the head and always 2 hits on lighter armored opponents.

This is the game i have been waiting for so long. I admit first i had doubts, but they were soon to be history. The price (i picked it up for 15 euro on a Steam sale) is 22 euro. Really cheap for what you are getting: The most intense and detailed medieval warfare. The fighting system alone has already surpassed any other game by a long shot. Forget the simple sword swing. Now you got Slash, Stab, Overhead strike, feint, parry, block, side step, jump attack, duck to avoid horizontal swings. and kick and countless ways to combo them Each attack obviously has strengths and weaknesses. Slash is best done with swords, for overhead a big hammer does the most damage and for stab there are specific swords and daggers.
You can perform every move on every character of course. Only the Man at Arms can perform side steps though which is a little odd, since archers are lighter and need more agility. The development team is really good, they are upfront, speak in clear tongue and they really listen to the community. I payed only 15 euro yet i will still get loads of free updates and even DLC i think. We are even getting a map editor in a few months. Also complete customization i heard. Of course we will get more maps as well but even the few that we have now will take months to get bored of i think.
Take a look at some of the videos on Youtube. Just about anyone who has seen those videos agrees that this game is really good. I just started playing 3 days ago, if anyone would like to practice with me, be friends or make a clan you can add me on Steam. My username is Sylanthor.
20 euros for a game this good? How can you pass that?
im a giant sword and shield game fan, my favorite so far has been the mount and blade series. my only gripe with it has been that the combat feels stiff and clunky.
then i found this game, the combat is entirely skill based, if you suck you will die, theres no ifs ands or buts about it.
however i do NOT agree that the damage is 'realistic'
no realistic person could fight after even a single well connected blow from any of these weapons, armor was not a miracle device, it did not make people impenetrable tanks.
at no time in history has a spear through the abdomen left a soldier still able to fight at 100%
at no time in history has it taken 3 swings with a mace to crush someones skull adequately to take them out of the fight
I guess you are right, except that when your life is in danger you might be able to do things you normally couldn't. Perhaps a spear would disable you instantly but i think a whack with a mace doesn't have to. I imagine that even a blow to the head with a helmet on CAN be survivable, and hits to the body surely must be. Perhaps not realistic as in real to life, but more realistic in a way that weapons actually hurt. I don't know of many games that come this close to realism. Not entirely realistic then but as close as it can get.
maces were designed to crush through helmets.
but yea, getting hit even once in this game you deff wanna be careful.
