The Walking Dead game will be free to download on Xbox Live this week. Or at least the first episode will be. It is a point and click, choose your own adventure game that is based on The Walking Dead TV series. It's gotten a lot of good reviews so I think it's worth checking out if you're into zombies.

I purchased the game on Steam and loved it. It reminded me a lot of Heavy Rain on the PS3, but was much better written and had a tighter focus. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys story based adventure games. Season 2 will be an instant buy for me.

I haven't had a chance to play it much but so far I'm really liking it. I like how your choices affect how the story will play out.

I just finished ep one. And wow it was great. I see why they made this free. I think a lot of people will be buying the other episodes.

If that's a selling point, you might want to lower your expectations a little bit.

It's a terrific game, but I don't think it's advertised correctly. At the start of each episode, it says "The story is tailored to how you play."

This is sort of true, but in a strange way. The outcomes of most major events are actually set in stone (with some permutations as to how the outcome actually ends up happening). But your in-game choices change how you perceive these events, and they change how other characters perceive Lee's role in the events.

One way to explain it might be that you are customising Lee, but you are not really customising the story that Lee is in (with a few exceptions).

It's probably the best game I've played all year, but I'm just getting around to Journey. 8)

Is it different to the TV show in terms of stories and characters?

Same continuity, but it follows the story of a different group. There are a couple of "cameo" appearances from characters in the comic or the show.
