When I am on websites that host flash games I will often see banner ads for online MMORPGs. Why are there so many? I have seen ads for about 20 different MMORPGs on these sites. Who actually plays these games?

Another Question: Many of these ads have half-dressed women in them. I suspect that these women don't actually appear in any of the games. Are my suspicions correct?

You are definitely correct on this one. Also give an example of a banner to show me that it is actually a mmorpg as most turns out to be MMO tick based games.

Because you can make a half decent or better game and not only have item shops (pay for power), But you can also charge the person per month for days of access to your game which they sometimes don't always use. One of the ways to captivate the minds of these neanderthals is to include a barely dressed woman. They'll throw all their parent's money at this game so they can either play as an unrealistic woman character or see this character in game.

A majority of profit off these games comes from pre-pubescent boys who can't help but feel enticed by these things. I'm sure you already knew the answer to what you asked. Also, this doesn't apply to all online games. So, get off the flash games and play some Guild Wars 2 dammit!

Agreed! Stop playing half-assed flash based MMO's 8)
I've tried a few and most of them were pay-to-win types.

Sweet, Everquest looks pretty cool but it does look very similar to Runescape.

Leave me out of that! Unfortunately society decrees that mine is not a favourable credit history (it has nothing in it) and so ADSL broadband is well out of my reach -_-

you have to have credit to get broadband internet there? That kind of sucks immensely. If its a matter of needing a card to bill it to, pretty much anyone here can set up a checking account with a debit card that has a Visa or Mastercard logo and can be used anywhere credit cards can. But if they actually do a credit history check to sign up for internet service, that seems weird.

Trust issues, I guess; the way I see it they'd want to know that prospective contractees won't slither out.
