Does it bug anyone else that Sonys is releasing classic games that used to be hard to find? Or games remastered on the handhelds? I spend weeks tracking down many a SMT game only to have it come out on the psp for 1/10th the price and "remastered"

Doesn't bug me at all. It's entirely welcome. Would you rather pay 100 bucks for Tomba, or 6 bucks? Think about your answer before you reply. :P Would you rather pay 75 bucks for Legend of Mana or 10 bucks? Again, think about your answer.

I think it's great! (Not if you're looking for an original copy, of course.)

That's just how it goes. People who spent years keeping their eyes open for that missing volume in a book series would search every used book store, talk to every literature aficionado, write in to the publisher, and maybe stumble on it one day in some small town library for sale.

Nowadays they'd look on Amazon and click in a box. It arrives at their doorstep in several weeks, or only a few days if they pay enough.

Just think if this happened to paintings. All the hard word to make it wasted.

There's no way in hell that something like a video game should be hoarded for upwards of hundreds of bucks on a website just because it's hard to find. Not only are hoarders some of the greediest people on the planet, the developers, the ONES THAT MADE THE GAMES, see no profit, and instead these types of people are the ones who profit off games.

Would you rather have Sony keep putting hard to find stuff on a service like this so EVERYONE can enjoy, or do you want it to be exclusive and expensive just to fit in with the hoarders and say "yeah, I own a copy of this super-rare game!"

That's what I like about Sony and Nintendo. They allow really good and rare games to end up on their services for cheap so everybody can enjoy them.

And I'm saying this as a collector. As a person who has owned literally over 1,200 games in his lifetime. I can't count the amount of times I've played a game like Guardian Heroes or Tomba or Final Fight 3, and thought, man, I wish everyone could play these games.

I mean yeah, you could go the emulator route, but nothing beats playing a game on a TV screen. Not at all.

You say it's good for the people that make the games for these downloadable releases but they do not see a penny from them. Sony owns the rights to them and do not share nicely.

Sorry, but I'm with everyone else in this thread. I love it when my favourite games are made more widely available, so more people can play and enjoy them. Some of my favourite games haven't been re-released digitally, and are hard to find now, which pretty much means that only a select few will get to enjoy them, which saddens me. Also, I don't have my ps1 games anymore, so my ps1 favourites are lost to me too, unless they are re-released. So, no, I don't consider the re-release of classics "rip-offs", and even though they probably are cash-ins from a business perspective(everyone has to make money somehow), they're great for gamers too, so everyone wins. Collectors don't lose either, because there's still the prestige of owning a physical copy, which in itself is still a valuable collector's item, and is great for people who like owning their games and/or having something physical to hold.

i think its great. We're also starting to see some of the old SNK classics like Super Sidekicks and king of fighters. I'm going to download these for my PS3 whenever I can afford to actually top up my Playstation network wallet.

Not been able to play these for yeeeeeeeeeeeeeears.

Only thing that bugs me is that on some games the developers insist on putting a border around the game screen instead of letting you play fullscreen.
