Okay, I usually play Neopets on my Firefox browser, which removes all those stupid, annoying, distracting ads, but sometimes I have loading or connection problems, possibly due to the ads being removed. So I sometimes have to try and ignore the ads and use my default browser. But a recent ad that just keeps appearing really takes the cake and crams it right in my face! It's for a dating site of some sort, of all things. I HATE dating websites, I hate the constant commercials for them and I really hate the fact that many women are so desperate they connect with some guy who could be an evil serial killer and nothing like his photos or how he describes himself. This is on Neopets, a FAMILY website that warns that they are not a dating service and if you even so remotely talk about dating or how "hot" someone is your account can get permanently frozen. Your not even allowed to show your Neopets being in romantic relationships (which is kind of odd around Valentine's Day when much artwork shows them acting "lovey-dovey" in a G-Rated fashion). The site says too many people have abused the privilege. Okay, I can understand that, so why are they allowing these pop-ups of men seeking women appear constantly on the site now? I want to complain to the editor but I'm afraid even using the word "dating" could get me kicked off the site. Arrrrgh....

Why do people complain of ads in an era when the majority of browsers have a version of ABP ready to them?

I've been using it since Firefox 3, to the switch to Chrome, and haven't looked back.

To be fair, with your complaints about dating sites. Women can just as easily use the wrong photos and misrepresent themselves to get something out of someone, which is much more likely than meeting a serial killer through a dating site. Also using an online dating site is in no way an act of desperation, and certainly beats trying to meet people at clubs or bars where you know zero about the person. For many people who are busy with work and/or school its a matter of convenience and a way to meet people they otherwise would have never interacted with.

I will agree that its out of place for them to be advertising dating sites on NeoPets, but I just feel your disdain for the concept of them to be misplaced as well.

Yeah, is the OP mad at dating sites, or the fact that they were hyped on Neopets?
