Being that I first fell in love with VGs in the 8-bit era, the Castlevania series holds a place in my heart.

The first three games are so freaking hard. While I have yet to beat them, that would be a reward in itself.

The recent games are OK....... Dawn of Sorrow is one that I feel should not be missed...... on that note, I should cosplay Soma Cruz in the future....

I've gotten through over 20 different Castlevania games on various Nintendo and Playstation game systems. There's a few I haven't got through yet such as the Sega Genesis Castlevania and the ones for the old b/w Gameboy system.

I also got the platinum trophy in "Castlevania:Lords of Shadow" for PS3. There's going to be a couple direct sequels to that game on the Nintendo 3DS and PS3 as well.

The toughest part of Simon's Quest, I feel is the puzzle aspect of the game itself; it is hard to beat the game in such a quick amount of time.

I played a few of them, around 4 I think. Castlevania 1, Rondo of Blood, Symphony of the Night, and Circle of the Moon are the ones that I've played.

The 1st Castlevania is great, though I can't get past stage 2.

Rondo of Blood is awesome. Couldn't find a single flaw of the game. Same goes for SOTN.

Circle of the Moon is a fun pocket-sized Castlevania, though the animation of the characters is a bit stiff.

I might be getting Aria of Sorrow next. How good is it?

I will use the ROM file of Castlevania 1 as a benchmark to gauge emulation of the NES. Since I have so many different gadgets that can run emulation software, it's good to use the epic Castlevania 1!

Playing the GBA version of the original NES version is quite refereshing; in fact, there's a save state in that version, which is pretty convenient, if you ask me.

I got through all three NES Castlevania games on the Wii virtual console which also has a save feature, so you can restart at the beginning of the level you were on.

I thought it was funny that the original Castlevania has a "hard mode" that's unlocked after beating the game. On the NES it had to be played through without shutting the console's power off. :lmao:

The original Castlevania also had an arcade version which sounds interesting.

I would imagine those would be hard to find today!

I've beaten 2 a few times, I think. The first one I beat once, don't remember if I cheated or not though...I know I beat the Japanese cart version on Easy Mode, just for fun. On easy mode, you take a lot less damage, and you don't get knocked back.

Haven't beat 3 or 4 yet. Beat the first GB one.

I almost beat CV64, but my memory pak crapped out right before the final battle >_<

I've beaten the first game modes in Symphony of the Night, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance (twice), and Dawn of Sorrow...obviously you unlock tons of other game modes after you beat those, and I haven't beat them yet. I did beat the inverted castle in SotN though.

I think that might be all of them?

I can get to the final stage in the Genesis game, and then I get frustrated and throw the TV across the room.

(no, not really)

The handheld ones are my favs, especially the ones with Soma in them. Although I recently played "Lords Of Shadow", am about half way through it, it's fantastic. You start with the combat cross and upgrade it to vampire killer over time.

I played quite a bit through Aria of Sorrow. Fun game...shame my GBA broke and the emulator doesn't work well for the game.

I played "Lords of Shadow" and didn't like it much so I decided to see why everyone likes this title and played SotN. I was shocked by how good SotN was and how horrible compared to it LoS is!

I don't understand how anyone can say that LoS is good enough to have the title Castlevania!
For me, I played "Curse of Darkness" and liked it a lot since it captured some of the soul of the 2D game, but LoS was just a rag tag mix of things from different games with the title "Castlevania" stamped on it (my opinion).

SotN is awesome and the real Castlevania is FTW!

Is there a better game in the series than Symphony of the Night? It is one of the best games I have ever played.

It's probably a little overrated just because it's one of the few really good PS1 games.
