Do you ever go back to a game you overlooked and love it?

I did this with Morrowind, Mass Effect 2, and Red Dead Redemption 2. I thought they were too long, time consuming, or immersive and I didn't have enough time to play them. Enter: COVID-19 where I have been in my house isolated playing these games and getting really into them. I really love the hunting aspect of RDR2 and how involved it is.

Well I played a bit of Batman Arkam City, and I liked it....but then I updated to a new console(ps3 to xbox one x) and so obviously couldn't play it on there and kinda just forgot about it. But I subscribed to the game pass and saw they had both Arkam City and the previous one Arkam Asylum on game pass. So I figured what the hell, why not play through the earlier Arkam Asylum and then do a full playthrough of Arkam city. Then I plan to play the newer one Arkam Knight I think its called, after I play those.

But yeah I am kind of glad I never played through Arkam City initially on Ps3 so now I can just play them all in order on xbox. But yeah for being such an old game the Arkam Asylum is pretty cool and so I am glad I'm getting to play it now. I'd say its probably a great series of games if you enjoy Batman at all probably wouldn't be very fun if not. Combat can be a little weird, but its fun once you kinda get used to it.

Also, I guess COVID-19 is a good time for gaming and well me and my boyfriend are very much stocked on food now and beer...we got two 30 packs. And we got video games and warhammer miniatures to paint and play Warcry with so worse comes to worse we're good to go for at least an entire month.

May be worth checking out...that said admittedly I do sometimes google how to do parts of games if I can't figure it out. But it is a great feeling when you figure it out on your own without looking up a walkthrough. That said usually if I look up a walk through I just look at the relevant part but stop it before it shows too much of what happens next so I can still figure out as much of it as I can. I also enjoyed Styx shards of darkness, it is a pretty difficult game with lots of sneaking around as a goblin...I probably died like 1,000 times or more at least just for being seen by the enemy npcs.

That does seem interesting and looked up that game, looks like it could be a good one to add to my collection seems like it could be pretty enjoyable. But yeah I am not even sure what all games I like I like some puzule stuff, I like just hacking and slashing action but I also really like good stories and some challenges can be fun. I didn't really get to play video games as a kid very much didn't really get more into video games till my later 20's so sometimes even though I'm 30 I still feel like a noob because I don't have the experience of some people playing video games more regularly since the age of 10. But its something I really enjoy so I can't let that stop me.

I wouldn't say "overlooked" per say. But when I bought my first high end PC ever in September 2017 I quickly tried jumping into Dark Souls because of all the amazing hype around it for many years. After 17 hours I got to Darkroot Garden but I'd basically gotten there by running/rolling past any enemies that were too tough instead of challening myself. I left my progress there as I couldn't advance.
Fastforward to late last year and I tried to give it another go. The importance of the souls economy finally hit me and I realised that I needed to grind to level up if stuck somewhere. I started a whole new save file and got back to the same spot in just 5 hours but this time was already level 30+ lol.
Now I finally get it and Dark Souls is definitely in my top 10 games of all time. But I'm currently stuck at Ornstein and Smough not I'm not enjoying it as much as I had been haha. I'll beat it eventually though.

You gotta get a good rhythm of how to make them separate and attack when you can. Super Smough really isn't much harder but you'll need to watch out for his butt slam because there's a lightning shockwave then and it's harder to block shock attacks.

Witcher 3 (or the series in general), never really got started on them at the time I got them, a few hours then gave up (on earlier ones) yet I decided to buy the 3rd one around Xmas and played it through in 2-3 months, just reinstalled it to finish off the dlc, still considering if I'll go backwards with them though. Reinstall due to having had to reinstall OS/ upgrade BIOS lately due to PC issues. RDR2 might fit that list later, I got it and barely got started, but it is on my list to retry at some point in the next few months.

Some early 3D games, like Wolfenstein and Doom. At the time of their release, I thought they looked ugly compared to 2D games of the time, garishly violent and stressful to play. Plus I was just more into Japanese games developed for consoles with their kid-friendly cute mascot characters.

But going back to some of those older early 3D games, I find them a lot of fun. I'm not a big fan of the way modern videogames, particularly those of a higher budget have gone, so going back to these old games where it's just doing the basics and yet doing them exceptionally well can feel like a breath of fresh air. No endless cutscenes or mind numbing dialogue, no having to wait for NPC characters to catch up or open a door blocking my progression, no peek a boo mechanics between sessions of standing behind walls. Just lots of shooting, killing, and moving at breakneck speeds whilst circle strafing between projectiles and hazards.

I may need to revisit Elite Dangerous when Odyssey comes out, but after the Capital ship disappointment I don't have high expectations.

Back in the day my parents got me Dragon Quest VIII for xmas. I thought it looked like some uncool dbz ripoff (not knowing that Akira Toriyama does the art for the series). I ignored it for weeks, but after finally playing it it's one of the games most near and dear to my heart.
