I really wish they would make a game that combines grand theft auto with Twisted metal. think of how epic it would be to play a game that lets you steal a Ford Mustang, take it to a garage, strap some machine guns to the hood, put rocket launchers onto the roof, and land mines on the rear bumper! then engage in a gang war across an entire city! and if your car gets totaled, you could just steal another and do it all over again!

I've been waiting for something like this since even before the car tuning mod for GTA SA that lets you put guns on the car.

why hasn't it happened yet? I certainly hope someday we will see such a brilliantly bloody and insanely destructive game.

Roadkill is open world and similar to twisted metal, you might like it but it's on the last gen if you don't mind the graphics.

Dude, I remember that! It was a pretty good game. Nothing too amazing, but still a lot of fun.

Hmm, I might have to check Roadkill out. Their Blowout game sounds like it might have potential, too.

Interstate '76, I never could get it to work quite right back when it was newish. I might try again now that I found it again in GOG form. http://www.gog.com/gamecard/interstate76

I loved Interstate 76 back in the day. I believe the team went on to make Vigilante 8, which either inspired twisted metal, or existed alongside it. I've never been a huge car combat fan, but Interstate 76's alternate history, and stylized graphics appealed to me to the extent that I could push through some of the slogs. You can't get out of your car in it, though.

Interestingly, there was a sequel, Interstate 82, in which you could get out of your car, but the combat was considerably weaker, the cars had less of a weighty feel to them, and in the end, the game just wasn't very good. It did have one of the most hilarious final boss fights in video games, though (no spoilers!).

Yeah, I never really understood Vigilante 8...I played the second game and the Star Wars one on the Dreamcast and it seems like it's just Deathmatch with cars.

Yeah, pretty much. And that's why it was awesome.

I loved me some Vigilante 8 back in the day.

I'm really looking forward to when they make the third 'Zero Escape' game.
Both '999' and 'Virtue's Last Reward' are awesome ! !!
