Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection
Has anyone else picked up this collection? It's an absolute steal for $50. It includes both MGS4, and the MGS HD Collection, as well as two digital graphic novels and a voucher for the psn download of MGS1, and VR Missions.
I'm not actually approaching this collection as an existing MGS fan, because my ties to the series are virtually non-existent. I played MGS1 and VR Missions back in the day, and loved them both, but for some reason, I never got around to playing any game in the series since then. I always intended to play them, but for some reason I never did. I passed on the disc collection for the ps2. I passed on the HD Collection. I decided not to pass a third time, and this collection seemed like the best deal. I just finished playing MG1 and 2, and enjoyed them both. Now I'm ready to move on to VR Missions, then MGS1, both of which I can say I've actually played. However, it has been over a decade since I've played either, so my memory of them is not exactly fresh, and everything else in the collection is new to me.
I'd recommend this collection to people like myself who have never played the MGS games, but want to, or to big MGS fans who want the psn download of VR Missions, the digital graphic novels, or the art book that is included with the collection(which is admittedly quite nice). Otherwise, if I were to dissect the collection, disc 1 is MGS4, disc 2 is essentially the HD Collection(and the system recognizes it as such), but with the digital graphic novels included as a bonus feature on the disc(accessed via the xmb), and the voucher for MGS1 is for the psn download that has been available for some time. To my understanding, VR Missions is not available for download, except through the voucher from the Legacy Collection, but I'm sure that will be remedied eventually. Most people probably already have the majority of what's in the Legacy Collection.
The collection wins points for presentation though, between the nice slipcover, and the art book that comes with it. It's an amazing deal for $50. So, has anyone else picked it up? If so, are you enjoying it?
