Does being aspie/ autie have something to do with liking pokemon. I'm almost 14 and obsessed with pokemon while most nts I know stoped 10. The only other pokemon fans I know of have hfa or at the very least display aspie traits. Is this just coencidence I spelled that wrong lol or true with other people???

There's been alot of assumption that Pokemom creator, Satoshi Hijiri, has AS.

Perhaps we recognize something. A similar way of thinking

Nope. Lots of adults still play, along with watching animated films and dressing up like their favorite characters.

I'm about to turn 33 and I still play Pokemon. So do my sister ( 30 ) and her boyfriend ( 34 ), neither of them are on the spectrum. I just chalk it up to Nintendo magic :)

I am 19 and I do play Pokemon from time to time, mostly as a time waster more than anything else, but allow me to explain. I don't like Pokemon for any of generic reasons, as I am a person that plays games to, y'know, play them—a good story or an immersive world and collectibles and achievements are all nice things in a game but in the end I hold the gameplay itself above all others, and typical Pokemon gameplay isn't exactly deep—but it's one of those games that I can spend an entire day browsing wikis about it because of the sheer amount of GLORIOUS INFORMATION that there is to learn. There's just so many ways to theorycraft and plan out your "perfect team" for whatever generation you are playing and, ugh, I just can't get enough of it sometimes.

Not at all, we have a knack as autistics to really make what we like known, that could be the pokemans for some.

I still play the games from time to time.

I love pokemon.
The creator of pokemon has AS.
He based it off of his obsession with catching bugs.
That's probably why bug types are way more strong than they should be....
People laugh at me when I drop my pokeball at school. I wear a pikachu has tied around my shoulders or on my head all the time. I have a huge stack of pokemon cards with me in my bag a lot. I have a ton of pokemon games. I only have a few figurines and some plushies.

Wait, I got off track. I was going to say, do you have Pokemon X/Y?

I'm almost 19 and I still play. I skipped over black and white but I preordered X. I'm in love with the mechanics and I love any Japanese game with level grinding just about. I also love the endless trial of filling the pokedex. Still I know NTs who play too. It just depends on the person.

I'm about to turn 30. Relatives got me X and Y last Christmas. It's the first title I've played since I played the original Red in the 90's. Unfortunately it's just not the same gameplay to me any more. It looks much better but has lost the magic it had when I was a teen. All a part of getting older I suppose. As for the spectrum, maybe it's about enjoying time in another world. I've noticed lots of people on here create their own fantasy worlds that they spend time in while daydreaming. Mine isn't that vivid but I have written about 3/4 of a fantasy novel I want to try and publish one day.

Honestly, I'm not really a Pokemon fan. Most of my NT friends are obsessed with it though, strangely enough. That being said, I was a fan of the anime back when I was 6, and I enjoyed playing Red when I was 8.

22 here, was huge pokemon fan back as a kid. Loved the gameboy game and had so many cards, I look back on it fondly. I was watching the 1st season a while ago on Netflix, maybe it's childish but I take comfort in it.

I came into the games forum to ask if any other Aspies like Pokemon. I love the game - I'm 29. I purchased a DS the other day just to play Pokemon Y. I've not lost a battle yet and I've been playing it solid for 23 hours.

But yes, I love the game. Currently bidding on an original Gameboy to play the original Pokemon games.

Also, if you like Pokemon, you should try the Yugio trading card game on the DS. Awesome game.

I'm 29 and I did the same thing last year (watched Indigo League). The nostalgia, the return to a more simple time. It was great. Watching that show before I had to trudge to school was the best damn part of my day and I hated Friday mornings coz it wasn't on. I still remember the first episode I watched of that show in 1998. It was pretty early on in the series too, the episode when Ash catches Caterpie. I came in on it like 10 minutes in and was instantly struck by how imaginative it was and made sure I watched from then on. Good times.

You should go for a Game Boy Color rather than an original. Better screen, plus Gold/Silver/Crystal ( though the clock likely won't work now... )

Found a perfect one too! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nintendo-Game ... 1375711986

Not sure if it's worth the BIN price though.

Yore not alone. I've actually liked pokemon when it came out, after that came Digimon, then Yu-Gi-Oh, lost track of time and interests since I was in high school. Now after I graduated, souls inverted came out and had to buy a ds lite. Actually bought it and then lost interest in a few months and ended up selling my ds and game, but kept the poke Walker. I don't know why, but black and white didn't interest me, not until pokemon x/y came out. Soo I bought a 3ds and the game. Played it for some time, and now I wanted to try out the old style. As of now I have a red Gameboy sp, a lime green Gameboy color, and a light atomic purple Gameboy pocket, along with pokemon ruby, crystal and black. Still want to get yellow and red.
