Whom here has played this game series?

I will, because it is so kickass in many ways. Discuss away.

I love Call of Duty. I own MW2 on the PS3 and Black Ops 2 and World at War on the XBOX 360. For some reason, I like Call of Duty games better on the 360. World at War is my favorite, but Ghost looks too good to be true. This is actually one of my favorite game series.

Eh, it's a decent enough game series, but one often plagued with repetition.

Had the games since CoD 2, since then I've had them all bar for the vita one or World at War. campaign modes are great in all of the games, never cared much for Zombies or Special Ops modes. The only multiplayer that stuck with me is Black Ops 2 beyond the first prestige, separate weapon leveling I like, but the other games really had no point other than unlocking calling cards.

I don't care for K/D ratios, but I often find I often can't react fast enough to do that well.

I like the campaign for Call of Duty 2. I never liked the COD multiplayer much

I've played all of the single player campaigns, except for BOPS 2 and Ghost.
;-) I even racked up a ton of veteran achievements (although the Contingency level of MW2 still eludes me, due to the punishing time restriction at veteran level and the wildly variable single mid-level checkpoint)

It's bizarre though, because I do very well at the single-player modes... but am terrible at the multiplayer version.

But hey-ho, most of the other people are running about with Lv. 70 characters with vastly superior weaponry, and many of them play COD as though it's a full-time career or something.

What games should I get of this series?

The series ended after black ops for me. I played the campaigns of the older games but I didn't have Xbox Live back then so I don't know what the multiplayer was like.

Then the first modern warfare game came out on the 360 and I got live so I started playing multiplayer. I sucked. I started to get the hang of it playing world at war but it seems like I was always better at that series compared to the modern warefare games. MW2 came out and I wasn't as good at is as I was playing world at war. I still liked the game. I was very good at black ops.

After black ops I couldn't stand the series. It got old. I bought MW3 and didn't like it. I didn't suck at it I just didn't like it. The last game I bought was black ops 2 and it was another disappointment. I will never buy another game in the COD series.

I liked Big Red One, and what little I played of the first CoD was okay, but I don't like the games where your health regens after five seconds. CoD3 was especially bad...but somehow I managed to beat the whole thing >_<

But as far as split-screen multiplayer on the 360 with my friends is concerned, I like CoD a lot better than Halo.

I especially liked MW2 and MW3 for the campaign modes.

:-) I don't think the rapid health regen in MW3 is such a problem, if you play it on Veteran difficulty.
That said, after I finished the game on Veteran then I've not played it since then.... which I'm fine with, but I guess whether that's acceptable would depend on whether you want a COD game for replay value or not.

I didn't think much of World at War, though... there's wayyyy too much enemy spamming - and very unconvincing endless enemy respawning, as well as BS things like a level with a psychic enemy sniper or temporarily invincible enemies (invincible for no good reason).

My favorite of these games were CoD 4 and World at War. These games had a different feel to them before things got...let's say too complicated. Both of these games had only 3-5-7 kill streaks. The guns all aimed at the same speed. The maps were great. They had a few combinations that were out of balance but that's about it.

MW2 was the first to have multiple killstreak choices. This game is probably my fourth favorite because the maps were again fun to play. The killstreaks were also fairly inventive and balanced.

Black Ops was a bust in my opinion. It takes a long time to kill people so if you don't have a good connection you will lose a lot of gunfights that aren't your fault. Also the perks such as ghost, which make them invisible to radar, were a little annoying. Maps are not that fun in this game.

MW3 was the first game that I didn't like out of the box. It was frustrating because all of the weapons killed very quickly and it was the opposite of Black Ops. If you didn't have a good connection you would be dead before you could even see a guy. Literally you would see a guy walk around a corner and you would die. If you watch the replay he was around the corner for like 2 seconds already. This game was a pile of rage inducing horse poo. Maps aren't much fun either.

Cod BlOPs dos was the best game since World at War in my opinion. It was the first one to balance things out fairly well. The maps aren't as bad as the previous two games and the gameplay is fairly solid. Some of the killstreaks are a little rough if people achieve them, but they are not only rewarded as kills anymore but also for points. They're now "scorestreaks," which allows for more team oriented play instead of camping for kills in objective games.

My favorite games in order of playability at release. (5 good, 1 bad)

CoD WaW - 4.5
CoD 4 - 4.5
CoD BlOPs dos - 4
CoD MW2 - 3.5
CoD Black Ops - 3
CoD MW3 - 1.5

However, even with this scoring you need to remember that the older games (CoD 4 and World at War) are hacked and nearly unplayable because players are flying around and invincible. Just doesn't make for fun gameplay anymore. It's a shame that people ruin the good things. With this in mind the most current game, Black Ops 2, is the best purchase in my opinion.

*Campaign not taken into account as there have been other comments that sum them up nicely*

I bought Black Ops II and play it every once in a while, but I'm pretty bad, average game for me is like 5-20. Halo went down the shitter so I needed to go somewhere else for my FPS jollies.
