In order to fill the copious amount of spare time college provides me, I have collected a number of retro and semi-retro video game systems. I own Atari Pong, Odyssey 2, Atari 2600, Intellivision, ColecoVision, NES 2 (toploader) Sega Master System, an early Sega Genesis model, Super NES, the original PlayStation and the Nintendo 64 (my newest system). Does anyone else have an interest in older video game systems? I have these consoles all over my dorm room.

I do. I have an Apple II, Apple IIe, NES, SNES, PS1, Sega Genesis, and Aquarius Basic(only has one sh***y game ever made for it). I also will occasionally emulate something on my laptop.

I also have a few of those flashback game things where you plug them into the AV input on a TV and play them.

I've been holding off on buying more since I live in a small apartment and have limited room. I'm moving soon so I'll have more room. Right now everything is boxed up.

I do. I've got tons of the things.

Old Atari consoles, NES, SNES, Genesis, an imported Saturn, various other things... Hell, there's cartridges for the 2600 just scattered randomly all over the place here (I aint exactly the organized type), as they get used frequently with the 7800 unit that sits next to the keyboard on my overly crowded weird table thing that passes for a "desk". Currently Jr. Pac-Man has been getting alot of play time, a favorite of mine which seems to mostly consist of me screaming incoherently at the screen.

Also very into old PC games as well.... some definite favorites among those. Ahh, the days of CGI graphics. Cyan, magenta, white, and black, or red, orange, green, and black. Pretty sure both color schemes are permanently burned into my memory.

I have an Odyssey 2 with a big pile of games, but the damn thing never actually worked. Got it at a garage sale years back. Even has all the boxes and manuals and accessories and everything. I really need to replace the main unit (or whatever piece is the faulty bit, might be the power adaptor actually) so I can play the mountain of games that came with it. I'd also like to get a Vectrex, and a Commodore 64, which is something I've always wanted. Actually I only havent bought these things yet simply out of laziness, not fond of dealing with Ebay and such. I should really just go ahead and order some of these, there's really no reason other than that not to.

Nice to meet someone else on here that enjoys this sort of thing. There's a couple of others on the forums here as well, but not many.

EDIT: Ah yes, emulation, I forgot about that. 6500+ arcade roms, all with complete overlays and extras like cabinet photos, or images of their original flyers. Bloody excellent rom archive, I went to alot of trouble to get my hands on it. I'll use other emulators at times as well, like an NES one or something, but it's mostly the grand Mame archive that takes the cake for me.

I own all 3 types of Genesis, a NES, N64 and a Playstation. Oh, and a Saturn and Dreamcast. I have an unworking Atari Lynx (I think that was the handheld...). I own one of all the Game Boy types out there, too. Wish I had the rest. But I'm not in a hurry because I can emulate anything that can be emulated right now. I've emulated plenty of consoles, just not any Atari (Are there even Atari emulators? Oh well.) as I don't prefer many score-based games, nor things like Commodore 64. Strangely enough I have a MSXII emulator purely for the original Vampire Killer (The first Castlevania, I believe.), though I've never played it.

I learned a bit late that I should save old consoles. I only own a genesis and n64. Used to own a 3DO, NES, SNES, NES toploader, but I (or my family) sold them all. I'm not super regretful, but it sucks when I get the urge to play the authentic retro game. Most of the time I just turn to an emulator. I mainly regret getting rid of my SNES. It was my favorite system with tons of good games.

I used to be really into retro console gaming, and I actually have a number of older systems in storage, but over the past few years it's gotten kind of inconvenient to keep all these consoles around and hooked up, so now pretty much all of the retro gaming I do is PC-based. I do occasionally play retro console games through emulation, but lately I've just been too lazy to dig out my 360 pad to play them with, and using a keyboard for those games just isn't the same.

Anyway, my favorite platforms for retro gaming, in order are:

- MS-DOS PC (really counts as its own platform as opposed to Windows)
- SNES
- Gamecube (came out two generations ago so it basically counts as retro :P)
- Nintendo 64
- Sega Genesis/Megadrive
- Gameboy Advance (same case as Gamecube; just old enough to count as retro)

I really want to get back into retro collecting some time, as soon as I actually have the space for it. I also want to branch out and start collecting for other systems I've mostly ignored, like the Dreamcast, PS1, Saturn, Atari 2600, TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine, etc.

Technically I own nearly every major console, but I only move around with three of them. PS2, SNES, Dreamcast. That's all I need. Though I do have modern consoles too. The Dreamcast is fantastic, and I wish people appreciated it more.

I still have SNES, N64, PS2 and a Dreamcast in addition to Gamecube, Wii, PS3 ( my sister's but I plan to get my own before too much longer ), 360, Wii U, DS and 3DS. I also have games for Xbox and NES but sadly not the consoles....

I thought I had a list of my consoles in a different thread, but maybe that was a different forum...

Atari 2600 (heavy sixer), one AV modded NES top-loader and several front-loaders in various states of repair, SNES, Genesis model 1 + Sega CD model 2, N64 + expansion, PSX and PS1, two Dreamcasts, GameCube, softmodded XBox (in need of repairs), Wii + Homebrew Channel...

Atari 600 XL, Apple //e (platinum)...

DMG Game Boy (backlit modded), Super Game Boy, a few GB Colors, a few GBAs, one GBS-101, Game Boy Micro, NDS (fat), 3DS XL...

Yes, I have too many Game Boys.

I'm sure I've forgotten something.

I was never into consoles but still mod for Classic Doom on PC now and then. Don't often have the time but I don't want to let it go completely, as it has given me so much pleasure. ZDoom is my engine of choice, and it's amazing what you can do with such a primitive renderer (no 3D slopes, no true portals, etc.) if you are dedicated :) Some people even still use DosBox and mod for Vanilla Doom 8O

ZDoom goes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond the capabilities of the stock Doom engine, so much so that I don't consider it to be "proper" Doom. ;) Don't get me wrong, I like ZDoom, and I've spent many hours playing mods for it as well as online multiplayer through Skulltag and Zdaemon, but it's almost like a different game using the same assets, in my opinion.

Yeah, I don't think I'd consider it "retro", but in my personal list, I just listed all my consoles, since I was already heading that direction anyway.

I still have my SNES and a few games, including Super Mario World. I'm glad I didn't sell and have it as a memory, because I think physical copies of old systems and games are getting pretty expensive.

I have a Game Boy Advance(the original GBA, not that foldy-thing that resembles a square DS). And I suck at most of those games. To date the only one I've beaten is Pokemon Ruby.
It is, however, fun.
I also enjoy older games in general, especially RPGs - the simpler graphics often make it easier for me to focus on the plot.
