Mario Party 2 was my favorite and I liked how in the third one you can carry more items. I didn't like how in the 9th one everyone rode the same coaster and moved the same spaces. I never bothered getting the game after I had rented it. I played Mario Party 4 a lot when I was 17 and 18. I have all the series except the last one. I even have the DS one too and Advance and the e reader one.

Mario Party 2 is my favorite one too. I played Mario Party 1 till 8, never bothered to get 9, they kinda started to feel the same after Mario Party 5.

I really liked Mario party 1 too because it was the most cruelest of them all. You can actually lose coins in mini games. What I didn't like in Mario Party 1 were the mini games that required you to spin the control stick. It gave blisters on your hand palm after a while.

I still don't understand why they removed Donkey Kong as a playable character since Mario Party 5. Sure, let's add 3 new playable characters to Mario Party 5! But Donkey Kong? Nah let's just remove him after being in all 4 Mario Parties. Worst move ever. :(

They got sued for that. Notice how they didn't do that again in the next series. I remember them offering gloves for it.

What? For real? Gloves!? *looks up on google*.

"In Mario Party, certain minigames required players to rotate the controller's analog stick. Some players reportedly got blisters, friction burns and lacerations from rotating this stick using the palms of their hands instead of using their thumb.
Although no lawsuits were filed, around 90 complaints were received by New York's attorney general's office and Nintendo of America eventually agreed to a settlement, which included providing gloves for anyone who had hurt their hand(s) while playing the game and paying the state's $75,000 legal fees. At the time, providing gloves for the estimated 1.2 million users of the game who might have been affected could have cost Nintendo up to $80 million.
The analog stick rotation has been used sparingly since Mario Party 2, and Mario Party was not re-released for the Virtual Console. Nintendo skipped it and instead re-released Mario Party 2. Although planned for a Virtual Console release, it was dropped because of the controversy caused by the analog stick rotation gameplay mechanic."

Wow! I wonder, why can't they release Mario Party 1 for the Virtual Console and just replace the rotating by pressing the A button or something similar to that.

I liked Mario Party 7 the most
Then 2 (where the bank robs you each time you pass it but you get to rob it back if you happen to land on it)
Then 1 (even though it had it's problems, it was a new idea at the time)
Then 3
6 was okay
I didn't like 8

D'oh I missed an opportunity when my hand got a quarter-sized blister from just trying to turn on a lightbulb before a boo swallowed me on Pedal Power on Mini Game Island, (and yes they had a Shy Guy wind up game JUST for training you for those aforementioned games as if the developers were laughing at you).

2 was the best one. Haven't played one since 4 ( well, I played Advance, the store demo of DS and the demo of some MP5 minigames that came with Mario Kart: Double Dash! ) though, especially since we had no fun with the one board we played as my sister got stuck in a loop with no chance to win whatsoever...

And yeah, removing DK from playable status sucks...but what's worse, IMO, is that the new "characters" added since then ( and this goes for the Lart & sports games as well ) are just lame generic enemies. Where are Pauline, Mona, Ashley, 9-Volt, Captain Syrup, the other Kongs and E. Gadd?

This is the series that made me lose interest in the Mario series, especially the modern ones.

I would say the first Mario Party game will always be my favorite because of the soundtrack, mini-games, board spaces, characters, and the single-player experience called Mini-Game Island where I can play every mini-game up until I challenge Toad to a 1-on-1 race in Slot Car Derby 2.

My friends and I still play 2 all the time. I just chance time'd someone to trade me their 3 stars for my zero and made them almost quit :?

They all hate playing me because all I do the whole game is loop around chance time, and for whatever reason, I always get what I want when I get there.

I played 4-8 and DS. Don't recall playing 1-3, but I might have a really long time ago. I won't even bother with 9, because of travelling with everyone else on the same space, that's just stupid. My favorite would probably be 5, I liked 6's night and day cycle, but 5 had some cool maps without as much gimmicks so it was easier to be more competitive.

Mario Party 2 was always my favorite as well. But to be fair, I only played the first 2.
