New Sonic show
So guys, apparently Sega has been working with Cartoon Network and is currently producing a new Sonic the Hedgehog show coming to CN this Fall! Its called "Sonic Boom", there are currently 52 episodes scripted as well. What do you guys think? I'm pretty excited about this, Sonic has needed a new show for years! Its gonna be great seeing him on TV again!
Yay, No more Chris Thorndyke!

What? No Shadow, Rouge, Cream, Big, or E-123 Omega? Not even Team Chaotix?

SEGA have been wanting to distance themselves from what I call the "4Kids era of Sonic." This includes significantly toning down elements of Sonic that may be slightly too controversial for the family-friendly image the company has been promoting with Sonic for the last few years (Sonic Generations exempted, but then that was an anniversary game in itself). Notice how post-Sonic Generations (and even with Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colours) the focus has been exclusively on Sonic and Tails again, with only the odd cameo from past characters? And have you noticed the very significant shift in tone (ie. the recent Sonic Lost World)?
If you're looking for another Sonic TV series in the vain of Sonic X (which wasn't even that successful in its native Japan, which is why it only lasted a year - 4Kids split the 52 episodes into different seasons as per American tradition), then you'll be disappointed.
Judging by Genao Production's rhetoric in its native France, and their more international work*, as well as GULLI** who're co-funding, Sonic BOOM may be more traditional Saturday morning slapstick than anything too bogged down by its own lore. I'm afraid action-driven cartoons aren't too popular an investment for American animation executives (as proved by the demise of DC-centric material on Cartoon Network, and the under-investment Disney have exhibited with their Marvel-related fare), so comedy is a safer alternative.
All that said, I think it'll be an exciting time to see Sonic in a new light and I for one am rather excited to see what Sonic BOOM is about.
* re: the CGI behind live-action Alvin and the Chipmunks movie series, including the upcoming Alvin and the Chippettes.. Also doing an English-language CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks TV series.
** a French family TV network production company, responsible for mostly adapting foreign children's shows like My Little Pony and Pokemon into French, but also promote its own native material like Bernard et Corniel (or Watch My Chops as it was dubbed here in the UK) - and In Ze Boite - sort of like the French answer to Family Feud.

That's understandable. 4kids was dumb anyway. I haven't seen Lost World yet. I have a lot of Sonic Games to get through before I see that. I'm on Sonic Heroes. I hope Dr. Eggman is included in the show at least. He will be. Shadow's out because his origin story wouldn't fit without remaking it. No G.U.N., no Shadow. The others can be included anytime. Speaking of comedy over action, I think they can introduce Omega as one of Eggman's latest creations but due to an unfixable programming glitch, it only sees Eggman as the enemy. It could be funny to see Omega's creation followed by a series of mishaps.

It's almost a certainty Dr Eggman will appear in Sonic BOOM, he's far too iconic a villain. I doubt Omega (who didn't really have a personality to speak of) will return as Eggman has two new robot companions for comic relief - Orbot and Cubot, first introduced in Sonic Colours:

and returning in Sonic Lost World (spoilers):

Sounds good, I will always have a passion for Sonic even though I have not enjoyed the games as much for the past decade. :/
Love the mega drive games, LOVE Sonic Adventure 1+2 and I guess Heroes was pretty good but after that I have bought every one on the Wii and been pretty disapointed. Even Colours didnt do it for me, I honestly am not sure why though as I know everyone says its great. I have not tried Generations as dont have a PS3/Xbox360. When I get a Wii U I might get lost world but heard mixed things on it.
I do think things got a bit lost when it went away too much from Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy.
Anyway loved these cartoons as a child even Underground so I will watch this series I think.
Glad to see Eggman still has his voice actor. Even if he has been around since the 4kids era, he's still the only Eggman voice that sounds right to me.
