I purchased a game called Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. It was $15 on steam. I found everything about it to be excellent. The story was fantastic in how it was told. I was totally captivated by the story and that is very rare for me with video games. The voice acting was really top-notch. The music was excellent. The art was beautiful. It included historical facts that you can collect as secrets, even though the story is fiction. Just a superbly thought out and executed game.
The game is a Western shooter and is fairly short, I would say 6 to 8 hours worth of gameplay for the initial run through. Besides story mode, there is an arcade mode where you can do individual missions for score. There is also a duel mode where you can duel historical figures from the old West. There aren't a huge number of weapon choices, but there are three categories of upgrades that are well thought out in that they definitely make a difference, but they are not overpowering. I found that normal mode in the game was fairly challenging, unlike most modern games that I play which I have to start in hard mode. After I completed the game I selected to replay it with all of the upgrades that I earned from the initial run, but I'm playing it in hard mode. There is still a further difficulty which I will try after hard mode. This game does not have any kind of multiplayer feature, it is strictly single player.
If you like shooters and you like a good story. I highly recommend you at least, check out this game. Yes, it's not long, but it's only $15. Really fun game.
