Hi! My name is Lauren and I've recently been diagnosed with mild Aspergers. One of my biggest obsessions is youtube Let's Players, mostly a group called The Creatures, but also people like Pewdiepie and Roosterteeth. Are any of you guys similarly obsessed? If so, with who? :D

My favourite Lets Player is WeaselZone, he is not very big but he doesn't feel like he is acting crazy just to get views like some of the people do and he does a variety of different games.

I'm not a fan of Let's Plays personally. I prefer to hear the games themselves rather than somebody yammering on about random shtako...though I do occasionally enjoy walkthrough type LP's where the player/LPer is being informative and explaining how to get through the game.

Informative Lets Plays are often much more interesting and a lot less gimmicky than somebody who constantly shouts at the top of their lungs nonstop like a complete idiot.

This.

Not to mention the unending swearing that alot of them do.... I'm sorry, but this does NOT make you sound more mature. Makes you sound like a 5 year old.

It's very rare that I bother with the really "big" channels... not a particular fan of RoosterTeeth, and I dont follow Pewdiepie.

As it is, I prefer LPers more like Deceased Crab, who never, ever swears, uses humor that isnt extremely crude (which for other LPers often involves, of course, more swearing) and very well explains things that are going on. Typically if someone swears every 2 seconds, I dont bother with them. Though I can understand the occaisional swear in sheer response to something really annoying happening.

I also prefer LPers who do a wide range of games, particularly older games or indie titles.... LPs of the 230957375th major FPS to release, for example, arent interesting.

Some LPers that I like are:

Deceased Crab (as said before, easy to listen to and never swears. Does a very wide variety of games, including alot of older games)

One F Jef (alot of variety with him; stuff like Dwarf Fortress for example, or Mount & Blade. Pretty hilarious.)

CaptainSparklez (probably the "biggest" one I follow. Almost entirely does Minecraft, but alot of extremely modified variations of it instead of vanilla.)

Das24680 (Does mostly strategy games, including the super-hard-to-learn sort like Paradox's "grand strategy" games; Crusader Kings 2, for example. Very good at explaining things and can be helpful for learning games like that)

HCBailey (mostly does RPGs of various sorts. Normally console-style RPGs bore me.... or at least the sort that ape Square's style.... but he keeps them interesting with entertaining commentary and explains things very well.)

There's others, but those are probably the most notable for me.

^
I agree for a distaste of the people that spend a lot of the time screaming like idiots and swearing a lot.

WeaselZone, that I mentioned before tends to only swear when he gets really frightened by a jump scare, and I think that he balances well with informative and some funny banter. He also does strategy games like Democracy, Prison Architect. Some role playing games like Skyrim. Puzzle games, simulation games, and just some first impressions of indie games. Him doing horror games that I would not have the courage to play are among my favourite though,

Then you'd like Dilandau3000's Let's Plays because being informative is his style of Let's Play's (he even reads out the in-game manuals like secondary codices in the Mass Effect series). He's one of by favourite LPers.

Personally the only traditional Let's Plays I've ever actually liked a lot were collaborations and buddy Let's Plays. I used to be somewhat of a Yogcast fan when I still cared about Minecraft, and I did also follow GameGrumps for a short period of time but haven't watched anything since JonTron left. Nowadays, the only LPs I watch are from channels that have proved themselves to be entertaining with other types of content and do LPs in their off time, as I'd much rather be watching a commentary-free "longplay", if I want to watch a game purely to learn the basics of it, or a review/first impressions video made by AngryJoe or TotalBiscuit, or a stream of it on Twitch.tv.

And I guess since Misery mentioned them, I'll say I am a fan of Rooster Teeth (I was a card-carrying RvB fan up until the end of Season 10) but not so much of their Let's Plays. It really depends on what kind of game they are playing, how short the video is, and what kinds of things they are doing in the game, because I really enjoy their Things To Do series and anything involving a Worms game or Surgeon Simulator but not much else. Also I've enjoyed some of the more recent LP-type videos with Joel and Adam (who typically aren't in LPs, but make entertaining and novel commentary and a great pairing)

[/quote] I love DC! He's one of my favorites but hardly anyone knows about him!

I kinda love the guys who swear a lot and make crude jokes and act like idiots cause it makes me laugh until my stomach hurts too much to laugh anymore but I understand why you wouldn't like that haha :)

If you guys like informative gamers you might like Protonjon! He used to be one of my favorites and for a lot of his playthroughs he gives background on the game and tells about glitches and cheats. He does get rather loud sometimes when playing Mario hacks though :)

Making quotes on this site is actually pretty simple compared to other sites, but don't worry about it; there's a first time for everything. :)

Hey. I really like game grumps and Video Games Awesome. There both very entertaining, I think I like VGA more because they remind me of sitting with my buddy's playing video games together. but there both very cool let's players and worth a look out.

Pewdiepie is like the only name I've heard of mentioned here, and mainly because of his Amnesia: The Dark Descent videos.

My thoughts exactly. I once saw a short lets play that was almost entirely profanities.

My favorite LPer's are The Super Gaming Brothers, they're absolutely hilarious and served as my inspiration to go into Lp'in
