Really didn't know how to put that title into words. Basically, I'm looking for a place to talk to people about playing online games with. I'm going to be buying the Borderlands collection, and wanted to meet people to play online with. Now, I can meet random strangers online with Borderlands 2, but I put off Borderlands 1, so I still want to get some good time in playing that. And meeting random strangers isn't my thing, as I like to get to know a person so we can do voice chat while playing the games.

So does anyone know of a community for meeting other gamers to play with, preferably friendly? I know of the quake.irc or whatever, but don't know how to get there, as the IRC client I use, HydraIRC, isn't really intuitive.

And of course, if you want to play with me, feel free to PM me. =D

Edit: I know Borderlands 1 no longer has Gamespy supporting it. All the more reason to find a community, as Tunngle will be necessary to play online.

You're best off looking for game-specific sites/communities rather than "general" ones, honestly. Particularly if you want to find others that play the same game.

Borderlands being a major thing, it shouldnt at all be hard to find a community site focused around it. That'd be the place to go, wherever that is.

You might find trouble getting people for the first game though. It's the nature of these things that when a sequel is released, the original sorta dies off.

EDIT: Good grief, I seriously hate this forum sometimes.

"Could not find topic watch data", and particularly "could not obtain smilies data (oh noes!! !!)" are bloody stupid errors to get. This site seems to pull that crap REALLY FREQUENTLY.

And now it's having trouble loading because the ads are having trouble. Heaven forbid it actually load the site itself before the damn ads that nobody clicks on.

I have Borderlands 1, since a friend gifted it to me on Steam a while ago, and I have only played it a couple of times, but I want to beat it before I play Borderlands 2 so that I can make sense of the story. PM me if you're interested. :) Keep in mind, my connection isn't the greatest, and I'm way up north here, so it might not be the best idea for me to host a server.

Also, have you ever tried MIRC? It's a fairly well-known IRC client that's easy enough to use. Pretty sure it's shareware or trialware though.

I used to use MIRC before HydraIRC, back when I was a kid. Back then, it was free with just an annoying time trial reminder (Like Winrar.), but now that is no longer the case, sadly. So now I'm stuck with HydraIRC.

A lot of games have thier own sub-reddits on www.reddit.com so you might want to try there. - for instance, http://www.reddit.com/r/borderlands

I'll keep reddit in mind, thanks. Didn't think of it. Ran into a few people on Steam who seem to want to play. The only thing left is organizing them. I think I'll find people on reddit to fill the spots if there's need to.

Again, anyone is welcome to join. =P
