CC = Custom Content

I'm getting bored with the lack of toys and other stuff for kids in the Sims 2, and I want something new. I have all the stuff packs, and every expansion pack except Apartment Life. I signed up for Mod The Sims 2, and downloaded the one item I wanted, which was a better detailed toy kitchen for the kids, and I followed the instructions correctly, and it is now in my documents>The Sims 2>Downloads or something like that.

I enabled custom content on the Sims 2 game, but when I clicked on the ''go to the sims2.com'' icon (or whatever it's called), which is to do with custom content, just an empty box comes up and I can't get to anything. That's the bit I want help with. I must have this toy kitchen for my game. Does anyone here know why I can't get to the custom content website on the Sims 2? I must have this kitchen, and I hope I won't have to download a load of stuff I'm not sure if it's safe or not. I have an updated antivirus but sometimes something still gets past the virus shield thing and messes up all my computer, then I have to pay for a computer doctor to come out to look at it, for the third time this year.

Thanks.

Please can someone help, I know this is boring but I really want to know how to do this, can't find the right answers on Google and I'm scared to play around too much in case I muck something up. I wish things could just be simple, like just pressing a safe and free ''download'' button next to the thing that I want and it just automatically goes to the game. Why does it have to be this difficult? It gives dumb people like me a headache.

I've done everything instructed in this link, but still won't show up when I go on to the Sims 2 and click on the ''custom content browser'' icon. It just comes up as an empty box. Please can somebody help? I'm sorry that this is not World Of Warcraft what most Aspies seem to talk about in Games and Video Games, but the Sims 2 is really really cool too and I need help!

What the hell? What kind of tutorial told you to click it?

I haven't played sims2 for ages (I play sims3 and recently sims4) but I don't recall I had to do anything to get the custom content in game as long as the .package (not rar or zip) files were in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\ and Custom Content was enabled. And I used to have whole GBs of custom content and was downloading them often so I pretty much trust my memory. It definitely wasn't anything hard or complicated.

The ''custom content browser'' sounds like an in game feature to connect you to the sims2.com website to download custom content from there but since the game is really outdated the website might just don't exist anymore. Not much problem though, official website custom content are usually junks anyway.

The downloaded object should be in game already, in Kids room, somewhere between all the usual toys ( http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?tit ... _Idiots_10 ). If it is not there(assuming you put the .package in Downloads folder) it is either broken or the creator put it in different tag/room. Eventually the custom content is not enabled. You might try actually turning the custom content OFF and see if it works. I recall one my games was messed like that, a translation glitch probably .

If you are not sure if the way you install cc is correct download more cc packages and put them into My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\ . You should see at least some of them in buy mode or CAS if you installed them correctly. A single file is easy to miss between all regular items but with a bunch of files you will see that the custom content really is there because there will be a lot of new items to choose from. You might download the testing files http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?tit ... p:GCCTSU13 but don't read the whole tutorial. It is for advanced people, not for newbies, your tutorial is here http://www.modthesims.info/wiki.php?tit ... ing_Idiots (no offense, "Idiot" in this case means "newbie").

BTW. Make sure you download items for Sims2.
Sims 3 and Sims4 items can also be downloaded from ModTheSims website and they are also .package files.

Usually when it comes to downloading things on my computer, it is always complicated for some reason. Sometimes stuff on computers is like a foreign language to me.

I did look in every category in the buy catalog but couldn't find it anywhere, and so it's clear that the object I downloaded has not gone on to the game for some reason.

Yes, I did download this from Mod Sims 2. I know that it's all about the Sims 3 and 4 now, which is annoying because I tried the Sims 3 once and I wasn't satisfied with their faces. They all look like they have about 3 chins.

But thanks, I will try my best to use the links you provided and see what happens. I don't know why this has to be so complicated. I've played around with the download in the Sims 2>Downloads folder, like right-clicking and stuff, but there's nothing in the options to be able to do anything with it. Then when I double-click on it a stubborn message comes up saying ''this application has failed to start because the side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application log event....'' (can't remember what else it said). That is like a foreign language to me. I really don't know what to do there.

Is it the item you want to download? http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=317145
If so, it might require CEP http://modthesims.info/d/92541 to work correctly. I suppose the creator cloned maxis kitchen toy and made a mesh to it but had CEP installed on his computer so he in fact cloned the CEP maxis kitchen toy. Which you don't have because you don't have CEP. It is just a guess though.

Never mind, I finally got the toy kitchen on to my Sims 2 game now, but thanks for helping. :D

Now if you'll excuse me I've got some cool objects to download for my Simmies!

The Sims 2 Exchange was supposedly shut down, back in 2013. There's a variety of articles about it. That'd be why you'r'e not getting anything from the "official" method in-game.... because there's nothing there anymore.

Not a surprise, that game is oooooold by now, and 3 and 4 are both out, so.... yeah, I'm surprised it was up as long as it was.
