I never heard of this game until I saw your post and then looked it up on Wikipedia.

Wikipedia wrote:
Free Realms was a massively multiplayer online role playing video game developed by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) set in a fantasy-themed world, named Sacred Grove for the PC, Mac and PlayStation 3. The game was released on April 29, 2009, for the Windows PC. The game restricted free to play up to level 5, although there was access to additional game content via a membership fee. The game allowed the player to fight, interact with other players, and more ... SOE stated that they no longer had enough resources to maintain so many servers. Shortly after the announcement, a fan community attempted to revive Free Realms with SOE's permission ... It was announced by Sony Online Entertainment on January 24, 2014 that the game will be shut down on March 31, 2014, citing decreasing player numbers. On March 31, 2014, at 9:00 PM, the game officially shut down. The game website now redirects to Sony Entertainment.

You had 3 months warning before the shut-down. It has been 8 months since then. Why so upset now?

because I quit playing it and then randomly had an extremely intense urge to obsessively play it for months again, but now I can't, and I'm quite disappointed, because I haven't found another good game similar to it
