I always loved that dog, he added alot of personality to that game, and that game was an absolute classic. It and really the NES as a whole wouldnt have been the same without him.
In Smash I havent used him all that much yet... my main is Bowser, and I've only started messing with a few other characters beyond him. Yeah, I've played the series as a whole to death, but this is still a whole new game, so I'm going into each character slowly. Eventually I'll learn to use every character at least decently, but that takes awhile.
The actual Duck Hunt game on that console though.... ehhhhh. I always liked that game alot way back when, and playing it NOW is a monstrous pain in the butt because of TV changes, but... at the same time, I *really* dont want to have to use the Wiimote. For anything. Ever. Heck, the only reason I even have one of the accursed things is because the Classic controller... which I need for a variety of reasons... cant be used without one. The Classic though ends up being the only bit that DOES get used; the Wiimote just sits on the floor while I use that.
Still, I almost may give it a go anyway, because it's friggin' Duck Hunt. Not sure.

The Wiimote is the only way to play this release of the game.
You use the pointer controls as a light gun (the pointer is more accurate).
The pointer controls works really great for games that require aiming.

Neh, frankly I always found the thing to be hideously inaccurate. Note that I have one of the old ones... I never gave enough of a damn to get one of the "motion plus" ones. Either way though, I get aggravated enough just using it to get through the main Wii menu.
Hm, in the end, probably not a purchase I should actually make. Irritating as it may be I can always just set the damn game up the old fashioned way. Which I might do now that it's on my mind.
Instead, I bought Mario Kart DLC. Which I'll try out later tonight.

Motion Plus has nothing to do with the pointer controls, it only improves the motion controls.
The pointer controls work near flawlessly, but is dependent on your set up (light and electrical interference will cause it to go wacky) and you need the sensor bar set up.
You also need to level with the TV for it to be accurate.
I don't understand why you are having so much trouble with a simple pointer.
Yes the Mario Kart DLC is well worth your money
