NPD November sales: PS4 is not the One...
As we speak NPD sales data which only covers the U.S., which is the biggest market for console gaming, is trickling out.
Xbox One has outsold the PS4 in the U.S. and UK by 7-10k units, these are the two biggest markets for console gaming (Mainland EU doesn't care for console gaming).
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=950407
Software:
1.) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (360, XBO, PS4, PS3, PC)
2.) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
3.) Super Smash Bros. (NWU, 3DS)
4.) Madden NFL 15 (360, XBO, PS4, PS3)
5.) Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS)
6.) Far Cry 4 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)
7.) Pokemon Omega Ruby (3DS)
8.) NBA 2K15 (PS4, 360, XBO, PS3, PC)
9.) Assassin's Creed: Unity (PS4, XBO, PC)
10.) Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XBO)
Notes:
-Smash Wii U: 710K (retail + digital)
-Pokemon ORAS: 1.5M (retail + digital)
-Smash 3DS LTD: 1.5M (retail + digital)
Hardware:
Xbox One: Best selling console at 1,028,291
PS4: 1,019,923
Wii U: 220K * 1.1 (10% increase) = 242K
As you can see the 360 sold more copies of certain third party games.
Obviously NPD grouped both Smash Bros games.
Systems are listed in order of sales.
3DS might have outsold the Xbox One!
Hopefully we get more numbers as the night progresses.

parents buy the cheaper system. sony decided they could lose holiday sells rather than do a temp price cut.
That would be true in the past.
PS3 and Xbox 360 sold over 70% to the 13-35 hardcore (those who play shooters and are male).
Wii sold majority to parents, children, women, and those who didn't play shooters.
Xbox One and PS4 have sold overwhelming to the 13-35 males who play nothing but shooters, with very few of them being children or parental purchases.
Xbox One had multiple games bundled in with their price drop.
PS4 only had one game and lesser sales.
If the leaking data is to be correct Xbox One sold crazy to the CoD audience not children.
With that all said Xbox One is still neck and neck with Wii U for the second place globally.
*Xbox One only sells decent to well in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, UK, and AUS.
*Wii U sells better in mainland EU, S. Korea, and Japan allowing it to compete for second.
*PS4 sales are also starting to slow at a decent pace worldwide.
Wii U should see a better December with all the deals going on in the U.S. and Canada (NPD doesn't track Canada anymore)
3DS should see a boost as well due to all the sales during December.
Though U.S. and UK consumer are still confused by the Wii U name and the lack of shooters is hurting the sales.
Sadly sports games and shooters is what the U.S., UK, Canada, AUS, Mexico, and Ireland prefer on their consoles.

yeah cause each cod game you go into isn't filled with 10 5-10 year olds. >.>
ps4 had two games bundled with it and there was one with another controller and 2 more games as well.
cheaper attracts people quite a few people bought ps4 simply cause they cost less. which is why microsoft ditched the camera they said couldn't and wouldn't be ditched. then they have kept lowering the price each month.
most people will buy the cheaper item. its that simple unless you're a fan boy or want a exclusive game both systems will play most games, so you can spend $400 or $330 and still play the games you want. no brainier which will sell more. if tomorrow the ps4 was lowered to $300 guess which sales would pick up?

Not necessarily...
Sega Genesis/Mega Drive was cheaper than SNES during the whole generation and yet SNES outsold it.
N64 was cheaper than PS1 for the most part and PS1 outsold it.
Dreamcast and Gamecube were cheaper than PS2 and Xbox, yet PS2 and Xbox outsold them.
Wii was the rare exception where the cheapest system sold the most.
Wii U is cheaper than PS4 and Xbox One, yet it isn't sell as well (though part of it is external factors).
Handheld market is more price sensitive than the console market.
To be fair in the North America, Sony's official bundle comes with one game and one controller.
Retailers are allowed to create their own bundles.
The point is when it comes to console gaming, consumers aren't as price sensitive.

every retailer has the gta5 and last of us bundle I find it hard to believe that sony didn't get that deal and hand it out to every retailer. or they would have been different game choices by retailer
none of those systems were pretty much the same though. ps1 was better than the others, snes better then sega which came out to beat the regular nintendo. and the ps4 is still like double total sells of xbox. and december will end the xbox will go back to $400. the results would have been different if sony matched the price or went lower.
then theres other factors.
ps4 is slightly more powerful, people are still upset at microsoft for the E3 thing, people are fan boys.
but all the people i've talked to who werent fan boys and don't play the exclusives bought the cheaper system at the time. if the wii u played cod and bf4 they'd bought it.
if micro hadn't tried to do all that horrible s**t and then force the camera on everyone I likely would have got a xbone, however they did and also ps4 was $100 cheap. money is tight for a lot of people nowadays. if nintendo had come out with a $300 system as powerful as the other two and had 3rd party games I'd bought it and I don't like nintendo
the 360 was popular and yet now the ps3 has sold more than it. who know what the future holds but currently the ps4 is kicking xbox's ass and if it holds up as is will keep doing it. unless they make the xbox permanently $330 but I doubt they can afford that. they also pissed off a lot of people who bought it last year for $500 with micro saying we won't ever unbundle the kenict, we won't lower the price for atleast 2 years, we won't ....
microsoft has lost a lot of credit with people, imagine if nintendo did the same and just canned the wii u.
Well, that's an interesting blob of info.
I find the top games list depressing though for the most part. I remember a time when the top game WASNT always a damn FPS, and when consoles.... had games that werent of the FPS genre. Ugh. As always I wish that genre would entirely go away. And Grand Theft Auto right below it. More ugh.
Granted, I only care so much after having pretty much dumped consoles in favor of the PC (console game selection is WAY too small for me, considering both my tastes/interests and extreme frequency of purchasing games), but I do in fact still have a Wii U and PS4 now. The Wii U of course, Smash definitely tops all, though I've got some other good things for it too.... the PS4 though, I bought it entirely for LittleBigPlanet 3, and.... I havent found anything else to buy. It's likely to be a very long time (if ever, I've not even heard of another announced game that I would care about or want) before I buy another retail game for that thing. The only other games I have are Resogun and Geometry Wars 3, and I only have GW3 on there because the PC version was glitching out and I was getting impatient to try it. And the XBone can go plummet into a lake for all I care. Even if that thing had enough exclusives to warrant it, there's no way I'd buy one after the crap that Microsoft pulled with it.
Still, it's interesting to watch the constant race between the 3 of them.

Actually this is the first year Wii U didn't get CoD.
Microsoft bleeds money on selling Xbox One.
Sony just broke even on selling PS4s
Nintendo being a small company with slight more than 5,000 employees is unable to wring a cheap prices out of parts suppliers.
But Wii U is sold at a profit since early this year.
Sony is able to wring cheap parts from its suppliers due to the fact that Sony uses those parts for its other divisions.
Microsoft has the money to eat whatever price they get on parts.
This is why you'll never get a Nintendo console that is equal in power at the same price to the competition.
Traditionally though Microsoft and Sony sell their consoles at a steep loss:
*PS1 was originally sold at decent loss between $50-$100
*PS2 was the same, Xbox was sold at ~$200 loss when it launched
* Xbox 360 was sold at a ~$300 loss through most of it's life and PS3 was sold at $400+ loss at launch.
*PS4 was originally sold at ~$50 loss until two months ago
~Xbox One was selling at between $50-$100 loss, before the price drop.
*Every Nintendo system was sold a profit, though Wii was only making $6 profit at launch on each system.
*Wii U was sold at a slight loss until early 2014.
With all this said Microsoft is known for being the most hardcore system thanks to its heavy focus on FPSs.
Sony is known for multimedia
Nintendo is known for kiddy, family friendly, women, and causal gamers (if they actually exist).
Xbox 360 is still ahead of PS3 in global sales, the U.S. (#1 market for consoles) and UK (#2 market for consoles).
Xbox 360 sells close to 1 million a year still, while PS3 struggles to sell 600k a year (it's in their financial reports).
@Misery
The U.S. charts have been dominated by sports and FPSs every month since 2006, with the occasional Nintendo game sprinkled in.
For some reason sports and FPSs are the most popular genres in gaming...

Yeah, I know. Is why my love of the consoles died a horrible death quite awhile ago. Not long after the Wii came out (which for me was the final nail in the coffin). I still followed developments and such related to them for awhile, but eventually that felt kinda pointless... nowadays I only have an overall look every now and then (I follow the status of various publishers and whatnot, but I dont really watch the actual games being put out by them), and I dont get disappointed specifically because I've zero hope for them to begin with. I have two of the three consoles in this generation, yes, but I *just* got them, not long ago at all, and have already run out of things to buy. I have like, what, 4 or 5 games on the Wii U, and ONE game on the PS4? And as far as I'm concerned, that's it... there's nothing left. The devices at least serve the purpose I bought them for though. Hell, I'll actually be kinda surprised if I ever buy another retail game on the PS4 that isnt a fighting game, and even that will be very rare as I usually play those over at a friend's house.
Actually Sony promised those features would be at launch and still haven't delivered them.
@Misery
I have 12 or so retail games on Wii U (bought many at discount)
There is a good selection of non M rated games and M rated non shooters.

Yeah, I know, but I've pretty much hit the end of what I'd actually have even a slight interest in. Dont like most of Nintendo's own stuff (particularly Zelda), generally playing only the Mario games, and that's pretty much it, wont touch party games with a 20000000 foot pole, wont touch RPGs with an even longer pole, as I haaaaaaate cutscenes and really dont like story elements in games (find most of them to be badly written or just bloody stupid... I just read books instead) and absolutely refuse to do any grinding ever.... and so on. The sorts of games I like are pretty much only found on PC. Nintendo manages to actually have the largest amount of variety, not getting stuck in the hyper-narrow rut of FPS games that the other two do, but it's still way too narrow for me.
I like the Mario games, and bought the console for Smash and Monster Hunter, and.... there really isnt anything else I've found.
Of course, bloody Gamestop doesnt help with the browsing, since I walk in there, see the Wii U section, which basically consists of #%(&-ing Skylanders and Disney Infinity, two brands I'd reeeaaallllyyyyy like to see gone for good at this point. But even looking around online I never really find anything.

Then get:
NES Remix 1&2 (eShop or retail)
Mario Kart 8
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (Wii U)
Scribblenauts Unlimited (it has Nintendo stuff in it)
Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed (Wii U is the best console version)
Nintendoland if you don't already own it.
Art Academy: Sketch pad (eShop art app)
Pokemon Rumble U (it's a brawler not an RPG, you don't need any of the NFC Pokemon figurines. eShop title))
Sonic Lost Worlds (Wii U it's a good game after all the patches, it also had a Yoshi Island and Zelda free DLC levels)
Super Mario 3D World
Lego city undercover (Wii U, it's original open world GTA style game. though the cutscenes aren't skippable)
Shovel Knight (A good indie platformer on the eShop)
The Wonderful 101 (A good action game)
Pikmin 3
Pushmo World (A great entry to the Pushmo puzzle series)
....
Best Buy is currently running a B1G1 40% off on all Nintendo published games this week for both Wii U and 3DS.
They also have eShop cards on sale too
There are plenty of good eShop games including retro titles, get them all before the end of the year and you will get your 10% back in reward certificated (every $50 = $5 cert).

from what I understand they already added them. one can put mp3 on a usb and plug and play. I personally don't care and only use my console to play games. I have a iod for music, a bluray player for movies and netflix, cable box for tv, and pc for internet. all a game console has to do for me is play games. really glad sony went with concentrating on games and gaming instead of trying to be a stupid all and one multimedia shitbox
