So, I looked through about half the pages, and didn't see anything. So rather than necroing up something older, any other boardgamers out there? I was a long time wargamer, and it seemed that the nature of a lot of my fellow gaming buddies was actually quite similar to my own. I don't have much left here (though I have several hundred games at my mother's house).

Primarily I would play military strategy games, but also other strategy games (economic, political, ect.) Pretty much any of the computer strategy games are derived from these face to face (gasp!) ones. Additionally though, I enjoy cards and more family-oriented board games.

My very favorite is Go.

This is actually the biggest obsession that I've had in my life, and it might be nice to hear from anyone else who's an old style gamer.

Chess?

Anyhow, the nature of the wargaming community was such that it tended to attract a lot of social misfits, like myself. I figured that it would be likely at least some forum members played them.

I play Chess and Risk when I can find people to play with. I've played a lot of Monopoly in my time, as well - my sister and my ex-girlfriend are both obsessed with it.

When I was younger I use to love playing esp risk and monopoly I am really sad as I have quiet a few sets of monopoly but generally any fun and enjoyment would be crushed by ts cheating or instead creating their own rules

I used to love board games... I was taught chess quite early and belonged to a chess club at school. I would play a lot of childish board games when younger, like snakes and ladders, but I also loved monopoly and draughts. I still like Chess and have Chessmaster for the ps2. I also went through a major period of playing card games.. I wanted to play all the time. I learnt those from a lady in her 70s when I was about 10. I would go down to sit with her each evening after school and we played Gin Rummy. I got very good at it.

Now, we're getting somewhere. Not quite the stuff that I had in mind, but I've played a number of these. The style was really popular in Europe. I don't really remember which game this was though.

I lost to my friend at scrabble yesterday... even when i went so far as to use the word 'vols' when i am a Florida fan. At least wasn't as bad as last time, when he used all seven of his tiles and won using the word 'Sephiroth'...

But had i played him in chess, I wouldve pwned him...

Scrabble rocks.
I was playing online scrabble for a while till I got really excited whilst playing and accidentally spilled a glass of water on the table and fried MS's computer.

Carcassonne, eh? I've been there. Walled village in France.

This game is great, and Carcassonne 2 (hunters) is even better, more dynamic

And now that this game will be available for Xbox, I'll drool :D
