Time constraints got in the way as the Burnout developer was busy making Need For Speed Most Wanted, but Nintendo had approached them about making a new F-Zero for the Wii U launch...and now Nintendo has no idea what to do with the franchise. oh what could have been....

Oh man that would have been great criterion knows how to make a racing game that's for sure.
I Loved the new most wanted game. I'm not sure but I thought I heard on IGN recently that criterion went under and there not making games anymore.

No, they're still around. They're making some kind of extreme sports game now...

Actually the head developer at Criterion fully responded on Twitter and said he says he finds developing established IPs boring and doesn't want to touch F-zero franchise ever!

Nintendo couldn't find a racing experienced developer, willing to work on F-zero for whatever reason.

Nintendo received plenty of criticism for making GX/AX to samey to the previous entries, essentially playing it SAFE!
This is why Miyamoto is stumped on what to do!

Well, at least the two DLC packs for Mario Kart 8 each have an F-Zero track included in them, right?

Yeah, I know, I know, it's not the same, but still. Those tracks are awesome (Mute City and Big Blue, if you're curious).

Again with this crap....why does Nintendo get reamed for making a game "too samey" but when CoD and sports games do it they get praised left & right? smh, I hate this planet sometimes.....

In part because the franchises are older and in part because it's harder to convey how a racer/platformer/Zelda/etc.. is different from it predecessor.

Activision is great at showing and telling all the changes with each new Call of Duty game.
EA is great in telling everyone each new sports game is different from the previous entry.

It also doesn't help that the other companies wine and dine the media, while Nintendo doesn't.
