I just got Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain for PS4, and I want to sign into online or whatever in order to download my Ground Zeroes save data. However, I have personal experience that the PS4 is seemingly unable to operate independently once signed into PSN, like for example it will try to sync all my trophies from another system onto the PS4, and if I log back out of PSN I now need to log in again in order to view the trophies on PS4 that I could see fine without having to log in (despite what an idiot tech support guy told me that trophies are not on the PS$ despite my clearly being able to see them there). My question is, is there any way to allow me to log into PlayStation Network in order to use the online features, but then log out without any fuss and the system can function independently without having to log back in to do everything?

If you're using cloud saves and other PSN functions, then you need to always be logged in.
If you're playing a game that requires PSN log in, then you need to be logged in.
If you're playing a digital game off of your hard drive, then you need to be logged in.

Just stay logged in when your PS4 is running and you will be fine.

If the game doesn't require any of the above then you can play without logging in.

(hugs my Wii U for not requiring to be logged in to anything)

But the problem is even when it doesn't require logging in, it still requires it afterwards. Do you know anybody who can help out with this?

You need to go into Ground Zeroes and export the data onto tye PS4 you want to play Phantom Pain on. Then in Phantom Pain you click the download Ground Zeroes data. Sorry if this isn't helpful. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to do or what the problem is.

Wait, I'm curious, what in the world is this specific game doing that requires.... any of this? I've never had to do anything like this with my own console.

Though, I dont know how the new MGS game works, so...

Is this a digital download?
Is the game trying to save to the PSN Cloud and/or downloading patches from PSN?

I don't know any PS4 console owners.

Though I do know MGSV: Phantom Pain is having huge issues across the board, some of which is due to the online mode.

It doesn't require it. You do get some special bonuses and perks depending on how much you did in Ground Zeroes.

No, it's a physical copy, and I haven't tried to go online yet because I'm pretty sure I'm doing something wrong where after I log out of PSN on a PS4, all of its independent features, such as trophies and internet browsing, are impossible to do, unlike my old PS3. I learned this the hard way a few months ago, logged into PSN to download something, and when I logged out, it completely changed the user profile I was using so that I had to be logged in 24/7 for anything to happen.

Is your PS4 set as the primary/main PS4 for your PSN account?

If your PS4 is set as the secondary PS4, you will need to be logged in to take advantage of most features linked to your PSN account.

Also try Google and us.playstation.com for help.

No, I don't think so, maybe it's secondary to the main PS3.

I'd test it out for you right now if I could only decide on a PSN ID that wasn't already taken.
