For me, it's a tie. Kingdom Hearts 1, or Pokemon X. (I'll let you in on a little embarrassing secret, I cried when Pokemon X ended.) Your mom's Fletchling was a nice callback to the very begining of the game, and the begining of all things Pokemon for me. I still can't just run through the Elite Four without there being a giant lump in my throat, even now.

Kingdom Hearts 1 because the scene about Xion wasn't actually the end, you still had to spar with the murderous Riku. KH1 had Donald, Goofy, and Sora, setting off to find their lost friends, and it makes me feel refreshed somehow whenever I see that cutscene.

In my opinion the best game ending ever is that of Portal 2:

Granted, I haven't played many games that actually have proper endings. It's a tough one to beat though.

One of mine is the Super Paper Mario ending, especially the "END" screen after the credits.

I've got to say, BioShock Infinite, not including the DLC. Elizabeth's development throughout the game is one of the better examples of characterization that I've seen in a mainstream videogame. She goes from a naive child locked in a tower who only acts because others act on her, to a young woman who completely controls the game's story. Also, the twist that Booker is Comstock is logical (there are hints throughout the game, so it doesn't just come out of nowhere) while at the same time being genuinely surprising.

The DLC...it's okay, but it's emotional in a cheaper sense. You, the player, are attached to Elizabeth. She dies. It is sad. That doesn't feel anywhere near as powerful as the main game, and in my mind it kind of cheapens the ending of the original (since she apparently dies there, too, it's not like most players hadn't already experienced the "oh my god, Elizabeth died" feeling).

Most Grasshopper games but also add Silver Case as I just finished the remake. What a ride.

As was said I also enjoyed Portal 2.

Deadly Premonition is another one. The sort of epilogue was neat, reminded me of the Oracle Zelda games letting you explore after finishing them and seeing the effects of how you helped out.

Speaking of, the endings of a lot of Zelda games are cool. LA, OoT, MM, TWW, SS.

GTA San Andreas and 4 have their moments but Red Dead Redemption has to have the best Rockstar ending.

Mgs1 , 2, 3, even some parts of 4. 1 of course being the non canon ending for me. Not that I don't like Meryl but I like seeing Snake and Otacon more and feel the hopeful ending is a bit out of place, just doesn't sit right with me.

Then there are just endings I hate...MGSV, GTAV, Saints Row 3/4, all David Cage games, Metroid: Other M, etc. Granted I hate all these stories as a whole except Metroid.

Glad it's not just me. All main series and Mystery Dungeon Pokemon endings move me, and several have me fighting tears.
Explorers of Sky had me bawling.

Far cry 4, the ending where you let Pagin min live. such and awesome ending, it was very close to the 15 minute ending where he tells you to wait for him at the start of the game, and you actually do (after 15 minutes he comes back, and this ending occurs)

Fallout 3 (good karma I got) is one ''And war... war never changes'' because I didn't expect that to be just IT, KAPUT, OVER. I know the whole world is outright hopeless but the ending is a major downer, no matter what you do, nothing is going to change, sure you just ''saved'' the wasteland (you and your old man were kinda crucial to the continued success) but you're never going to find out if you actually saved it or just delayed the inevitable horror coming crashing again to screw all the good intentions and fashion them into nice ghoulish pieces of twitching limbs or scorched wreckage. You single handedly took down a seemingly ceaseless platoon of radioactive goons, who the hell is going to do that now you're not taking bodies down, who thought it was a good idea to not sacrifice themselves instead of Player?? Ever since I stepped foot outside of vault 101 I encountered little but gnawing unease and despair, it's enchanting in a diseased way, but it takes its toll to walk around that place.

Since adventure games are heavily story-based, it's always slightly disappointing when their endings don't add up to the sum of their parts, enough so that it could potentially ruin the game as a whole.

Off the top of my head, I could single out 'Grim Fandango', 'Syberia' 1 & 2 and 'The Longest Journey' as having really satisfying endings following appropriately epic narratives. I can also mention 'The Pandora Directive', 'Shadow of Destiny', 'King's Quest VI' and 'Titanic: Adventure Out of Time' as impressively utilizing multiple endings.
