Could anyone help me on this?
When I try to charge it, it doesn't charge, and I can't quite figure out why.

Well...

How technical are you?

My Wii adapter broke but I am powering it off my PC 's 12v line. It would appear that the 3DS runs off 5v but it draws 900 mA which means USB is probably not a good idea. If you have a Desktop that is at all decent, you could probably cut the head off your charger and as long as you knew what is + and - then you could connect it directly to your computer's 5v line. Also worth noting the 3DS is actually 4.6v and normally there is a .25v tolerance and variable in electronics so if you gave it a source that was say 5.25v, you could damage the 3DS... however... most people online say its fine.

However, none of that probably made sense so here.

When I connect it to the wall and then my 3DS, it doesn't change, so could it be just the charger itself?

Technically it could be the connection or the power brick. Its really impossible to know but I would bet and would spend money on it probably being the charger. Unless you have dropped it or it has been abused in some way, the connection should be fine. Plus if something was wrong with the 3DS, its likely it wouldn't come on at all but it could and still be a problem. I am still betting 98% that it is probably the charger.

Well, I guess I'm going to EB Games soon to get a new charger. I'm going to take my 3DS and the old charger, too, just in case.

Well actually...

Not to second guess what I said but apparently people are having trouble with the connector.

Try this,

That has got to be some cheap crap if it breaks that easy, no offense.

But I have seen complete crap and poor designing before on things that cost $1000s so

lol

Okay well does the connector feel loose like it might not be connecting to the motherboard?

If not then my original post still applies, also you might want to take it into EB game and tell them and see if they can test a charger before you buy it, I don't feel that would be too tall an order but I also don't comprehend any social norm so proceed with caution. As for the connector being loose from the motherboard, they could have easily fixed that with some epoxy resin

^The connector doesn't feel loose, so it's mostly likely the charger, then. The irony of this whole thing is that many months ago, my best friend's 3DS charger connector bit actually broke, so she couldn't do anything with it until she eventually managed to get it fixed [or she got a new 3DS; I can't quite remember].

Hm...

This might be off topic and if so sorry...

But I wonder if the connector breaking being a common thing, if I can get a broke 3DS for cheap, solder it and actually use some epoxy and have a 3DS discounted with a better connector. That is actually how I am rocking my Thinkpad, hard drive and RAM were bad so I got it cheap and I had the parts to fix it in house.

That's what happened to my old one. I yanked it out of socket so I can't charge it you'll have to buy a new one or buy a part to replace it. If you have the know how.
