any1 else love the smb games? the 2d ones, not the 3d crap.
i think they are sooooooooooooo frekkin awsome!
i used to play smb3 when i was a kid ALLLL the time. i can play it now and i can run though the levels bouncing off everything right fast, its so fun. i got smb3 and a nes emu for my comp, and a usb controler. i play it now a lot too and i can turn layers off, so i can't see carton things, and still beat it!
i recently got a DS and the NEW super mario bros. and its got elements of smb3, i really like it. i am not as good at it as i am smb3 because smb3 is a lot simpler. this has all kinds of weird power ups and i don't know where every1 is, and half of them are random. but i like the wall jump, i can get to really weird places with it. i find it really easy to find the cheats and stuff though, i don't know if they do that on purpose or if i just have the smb "nack"
its got lil tricks to it, to make it more like the original too. its got the old music hidden all over too.
so who else loves smb? :d

which SMB are we talking about?

Super Smash Bros?

Or

Super Smash Brothers Meele?

I love both of them. But Meele better. mainly because it has Mewtwo.

I think he's talking about the Super Mario Bros. 1-3, that were on the original NES.

I've played all three but never beat any of them. I can make it to the last world on SMB1 by using the warp pipes and the hidden vine in one of the castle's.

I beat Super Mario Bros. DS in three days after I got it.

Super Smash Brothers is a fighting game series featuring characters from numerous video game franchises, including Mario characters. Originally it was all Nintendo characters, but apparently this is changing with the new version.

And yeah, I'm a huge Mario fan. I felt that New Super Mario Bros. was a step back from SMB3 and SM World in terms of difficulty and complexity, but it was stilll a fun game and a refreshing return to old-school Mario action.

I am a big fan of anything with Mario in it, I find the simple, old-fashioned type games are much better than this new crap out. I just bought another N64 so I could play my copy I had of Super Mario 64 before my old system broke.

I rule at Super Mario 64. That's my game. :D I first played Super Mario 3 about five years ago on my stepbrother's SNE, and then I bought the GBA version. Awesome game. I like the Raccoon Suit and the ice world. I've always had a mild fixation with ice. Super Mario 64 will always be my favorite, though. Yeah, I don't really care for the DS version, either. I don't like the fact that you can't save at all of the castles. Stupid.

I like SMB 1 and 3. SMB 2 is still a good game, but I don't think it's true the mario line of games. (On the other hand, it was more or less the second Mario game ever, meaning that Nintendo could just as well have decided to make changes of the same magnitude betqeen every game version. Luckily they didn't)
SMB 3 was the first of the games to be less linear by using a map where you had some choice of which order you were to play the levels in.
SMW 1 (for the SNES) is the one that I've probably played the most. I can visualize just about the whole game in my head.
Yoshi's Island (Also for the SNES) is a real masterpiece as far as the graphics is concerned, but I haven't played it as much as I ought to.
As for the two Super Mario Land games (For Gameboy) I'm not sure. I think they somehow lack in the gameplay. Btw, related.
That's my opinion, at least.

My personal favorite platform games is the Donkey Kong Country series (especially 2 and 3), although I always play through Super Mario World from time to time as well. You're absolutely right; the 2-D games were the best.

the american SMB2 game is not SMB. its some other game w/ the chars replaced w/ mario chars. the japanese SMB2 was released as the lost levels or something like that in USA for SNES. people joke about it as its "too hard for americans". i played it onec or twise, i dont like it cuz i cant run though entire levels. smb1 seems like everything is placed such that u can run jump hit something run jump hit something, etc. smb3 is more like run jump bounce bounce bounce. but smb lost levels is like walk carefully, dont get the wrong kind of mushroom, watch out. look for hidden coins, etc.

I never really warmed to the 3D Mario platformers, but the 2D ones were ace. I preferred the first one though over the more popular third one. I never played them on the NES though, I played the SNES remakes in the compilation pack. As far as I'm aware they're identical save for enhanced graphics and resolution.
