Just wanted to let people know they should sit tight and don't reset your Xbox if your having black screen and other issues at the moment. Your Xbox is not bricked.

So this issue was actually resolved, but it kinda sucks everyone that owns an Xbox essentially has a fancy paper weight waiting to happen when some trash code is injected.

Was this really down to server issues or what? Consoles are increasingly losing their main benefits (ie. one set of hardware that just works, no messing about) but this is even worse. Even if whatever infrastructure exists craps out you can still get on your computer and presumably PS4.

I believe it was a change to core Xbox live service code. To overcome the issue you could either unplug the Ethernet cable or turn off your router to work around the issue that was happening to force it offline. Yeah, today's consoles are nothing like the consoles of the past, that much is for certain.

I do miss the one trick you needed to know to fix most any issue, just blow on the cartridge and everything is good to go. Today you problem solve and end up doing what a lot of people ended up doing, resetting to factory default or purchasing HDMI cables etcetera only to find out the issue wasn't on your end.
