ok, ok.
I got the ol' stationary exercise bike out of the garage, dusted it down and put it on my front porch behind the lattice. I drag myself out of bed 15 minutes earlier than usual 5:15 rather than 5:30 and pump away ( it has the handle bars that pump too) for 3 minutes yesterday and 5 minutes today, looking for 7 minutes tomorrow, or just might stay with the 5 minutes until I get my second wind and pump it up to 7 minutes.
then I hit the showers and go to work. Please don't laugh or belittle the progress that is from NOT DOING IT AT ALL. ( I know you won't, Chuck, but others might see this as laughable)

Laughable???!? Merle,
I Luvs ya!
Good for you! Just go nice and slow, don't get hurt, and treat yourself for being so good to yourself!
The staying at 5 minutes thing is a good idea. It's always smart to "stagger up". For instance, when you do go up to 7 minutes, the next couple of days drop back down to 5, then go to 6, then to 7, then drop back to 6, then go to 7 a couple of days, drop to 6 again, then go to 7, then 8, drop back down to 6... This will help prevent injuries. The long slow safe way always comes out ahead of the fast, injured, start over way.
(I think that's the advice Confucius gave to the Sumo wrestlers).
I'm proud of you Merle! But always have been!

Also, since you are working out first thing in the morning, drink at least one cup of water prior to exercising to thin the blood. You become dehydrated just breathing while sleeping. Thick blood plus exercise = heart attack.
