Yes, in fact my favorite character is Raiden in 3 and 4 and Sanyo in 1 and
2. I haven`t played any of the newer ones though.

MK 4 is a great game. :) Yes the newer ones are nice... I'm a nintendo fan so missed out on Deception and Shaolin Monks though. :( But I'm a big fan of Armaggedon. Good game that one. Scorpion is my favorite character but Raiden is awesome.

MK2 was my big obssession back in 1996! My favorite playing character was Liu Kang, but I was more fascinated by the backgrounds than the game itself.

I haven't played it in years, though. What are the newer ones like?

The newer ones are good... although Deadly Alliance is complex... every character has 2 fighting styles plus a weapon. It's hard to master and quite tedious... but does last for a bit of time...

Armaggedon is very good imo... one fighting style per character and a weapon much less confusing... the sweet thing is that the arenas are interactive - in one you can push someone onto a moving path that leads to a roller... you can push someone onto a train track then they get smashed by a great 400 or so ton train... it's great. :D Plus 64 characters... :D
