This is my second day to use Wrong Planet so I thought I would try to get to know more about you guys (and gals).

I've loved video games since I got my first Nintendo system back when it first came out. And I found through years of playing that I'm great at most kinds of RPGS. My favorites have come top be Kingdom Hearts series, Pokemon, Breath of Fire series, Dragon Quest series, .HACK and .HACK//GU series, Final Fantasy series which first got me into the whole RPG genre (except FF 11 as I'm not a big fan of Online Games), 'Tales of' Series (example - Tales of Vesperia or Tales of the Abyss), Grandia series, and some others I can't think of at the moment.

What are your favorites?

I have respect for the RPG genre, but I could never really get into them. I prefer FPS games. I don't like having to do a lot of "social interaction" with other people/characters, which is due in part to my Asperger's. Some of my social anxiety from real life bleeds into my gaming as I worry about what to say and how it will affect what the character "thinks" of me. But that's just how I am... most of the gamers on this site prefer RPG's.

Welcome to WP. :D

Final Fantasy 7 was a major favorite. It had a profound impact on me.
KOTOR - who doesn't want to be a Jedi?
Baldur's Gate I & II

My number one, though?

Early (Velious-era) Everquest, by far. That was a magical time - both for my age, and for the game itself.

RPGs are fun, I like the Kingdom Hearts ones, and looking forward to the DS game being released soon aswell as Biowares Mass effect and KOTOR (2 since havent played first. Also Oblivion was fun, also I think Jedi Knights academy counts as those force powers were fun, and if that does count then also Force unleashed as it was like Jedi Knights but being able to use different abilites faster and a lot more streanth. But my favirout are FPS, as long as it is good enough.

Favorite RPGs?

Well, D&D would have to be a sentimental favorite, as it was my first. I think I like some of the changes in 4th Edition, but haven't had a chance to get a game together to try it out.

I'm also quite fond of Vampire: the Requiem, part of the new World of Darkness series - at least when my wife is the Storyteller (minimal angst, fairly frequent action, and the only time we spend in Elysium is when the Prince actually demands our presence). I'm playing a Mekhet hacker with AS (Flaw: Behavior Blind), who unknowingly drained the overseas accounts of the Prince of New Orleans. To atone for my sins (thanks to an unknown, but powerful, benefactor, who kept the Prince from leaving me out for the sunrise), I'm engaged in a sort of nationwide scavenger hunt, in the company of a Ventrue with a firearms fixation.

If you mean computer games (CRPGs), I really liked Knights of the Old Republic II: the Sith Lords, especially as it revealed the moral bankruptcy of the Jedi stance as promulgated by George Lucas (that if you do just one thing wrong, you become Irredeemably Evil, and can never be a Good Guy again...). I've also become quite taken with World of Warcraft, and am running multiple Alliance characters on the Darrowmere server.

I'd never head of Gothic until I saw part 3. I've since seen that they're selling parts 1-3 in a box set fairly cheaply.

Is it something that runs on a bog-standard intel 82915G type card or does it require one of those 3D Fx cards?

I never even heard nearly all of the games you mention but I remembered another series I liked, Wild ARMS.

I played Ultima once on the nintendo but i could never understand what to do.

I also found the kind of rpgs where you have to create a team of different races and different classes are just WAY over my league.

And Final Fantasy 7 was cool too! But i never liked the fact that Aerith had to die in the first disc. Why couldn't she have died at least in the last disc?

What kind of RPGS are the games you mentioned liked?

My favorite RPGs tend to be real time battle types, like the Zelda games I've played and The Elder Scrolls games I've played. Which would be Zelda: Wind Waker, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I also loved Everquest Online while I was able to play it.

My other favorites are turn based battle types, and those games are: Dragon Quest VIII, Golden Sun, and Golden Sun: The Lost Age.

I also liked Fire Emblem and the early Final Fantasy games.

I used to like RPGs a lot more when I was younger...I guess I lost patience or something =/

Dragon Warrior/Quest is probably my all-time favorite series...I'll give the original trilogy a playthrough every once in a while.

Used to love Final Fantasy when I was younger...tried playing it again recently, but it's really hard for me to stick to it...I guess the only thing I have left for the series is nostalgia =/ Loved 1, 4, and 5...6 was okay, but got bored about halfway through. Didn't care to even try any of the 3D ones. After trying to replay them recently, I kind of like 2 better than 1. Maybe it's just the GBA version, but about halfway through 1, all the monsters just turn into annoyances...they can't hardly do any damage to you, but it takes about five rounds to finish them all off.

Earthbound was a huge one...like a hilarious, modern-day Dragon Quest game. Just sucks that it came with a strategy guide...I ended up reading the entire thing and it kind of ruined the experience for me =/ Hopefully Mother 3 will make up for this \m/

I really like the Ultima series, but sometimes they're just a bit too complicated (and primitive?) to comfortably get into. I liked 8 a whole lot...probably helped that I didn't need to use slowdown programs to run it ;) Especially liked the two Underworld games (but then again, I love just about anything Looking Glass puts out).

DOOM RPG and Orcs & Elves are pretty awesome...I like how oldskool they are, but without all the oldskool complications. Now they just need to release DOOM RPG for DS

Wasteland was awesome. Beat that game =)

Always tried to like the Wizardry games, but usually I'd end up getting lost and frustrated.

I like a lot of mutli-genre RPGs, too...like action RPGs like Zelda, stuff like that...Castlevania, Illusion of Gaia/Terranigma...

There's probably a lot of games I'm forgetting...

What about FPS RPGs, like System/Bio Shock, STALKER, etc?

Deus Ex is kind of cool too, but I was really let down because trying to be stealthy in it is nearly impossible @_@
