DS has a whole lot of games ported from the Super Nintendo, plus Super Nintendo games in Japan that never made it over here. The music alone with some good headphones is a good way to feel better about things.

Also, the DS is built to survive. My autistic daughter grabs out DS's and does some nervous intense stimming with them and they survive! I love the DS for not breaking.

Get Final Fantasy III. It's a good waste of time.

the DS allows for some original games, like elite beat agents, Phoenix Wright and Trauma Centre.
these are fun games to play.

It just hit me. Don't buy any NEW games! Who cares about packaging? There are a whole bunch of perfectly good used games at video game stores so maybe you could buy more than one.

Get one. There's plenty of good stuff to choose from for it. Castlevania, Contra, Final Fantasy, Phoenix Wright, Brain age and Zelda are all great titles that come to mind.

Super Mario 64 DS is a great game, so long as you don't use the touch screen to play it (which is strange really). Also, Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime Hunters are great games. Though if you wanted a DS, you'd have to get a DS Lite as the original is only available preowned (having said that, you could probably get an original DS)

I'm getting Phantom Hourglass in a weeks time and that looks amazing, but if you want to get a preowned game then get either, Mario Kart DS or Super Mario 64 DS.

All the games mentioned so far are excellent. Perhaps with the exception of Final Fantasy 3. It's a bit of a stinker, really.

There are only two for DS so far: Diamond and Pearl. They're really the same game save for a few differences in what wild Pokemon appear. Personally, I kind of wish I had gotten Pearl so I could catch a Slowpoke. If Slowpoke's important to you, get Pearl. XP

While Diamond and Pearl are the only two "main" games out there, there are other games that are more or less spin-offs, but have the title pokemon on them.

Those I know of are:
Mystery Dungeon
Ranger
Trozei

Also, about Mario Kart DS, to race with other DS players, you need an extra cartridge to play with more than just a demo version.

And it's too easy. Except for the Cloud of Darkness.
