I wish I hadnt bought a Wii

I bought it with all the exciting news about it last year and I bought it with about 3 or 4 games. For about twelve months I haven't even turned it on because there's not one good game on it yet. I love Free roaming action based RPGs which I have a plenty on my PC I also like FPS games such has the original Deus Ex it's the best because it was an FPS with RPG elements.

Nothing which comes anywhere near my interests has come out on the Wii and there's been no news that anything like them will ever come out. I'm disappointed. I think I should have put the money into some kind of new PC saving fund.

Yeah, there was a total lack of good games for the longest time. Zelda couldn't hold me over forever. I want to try Mario Galaxy now and Metroid Prime 3. I'm pissed that they delayed Smash Bros. but excited that they're porting The Force Unleashed.

Lately it seems like PC has been getting the best games, consoles have been slower this generation for getting titles I think I would enjoy. If I had a really fast PC I would buy Crysis.

Do you not like Soul Calibur? SC3 is coming, and Fire emblem was just released, and Metroid Prime 3 was pretty good... I have to wonder what you're smoking, because you should have known the Wii was an "add on" console, something you get after you by a hardcore mainstay like Xbox 360 or PS3.

You haven't seen the Wii sales numbers, they are kicking much ass, so I expect to see a lot better software over the next 2 years. In the meantime, there are too many games already I want to play. You must either...

1) Have a limited range of tastes or
2) Need to take a break from gaming.

I've had to do #2 once in a while, I skipped the whole PS2 generation except for god of war and one or two other games.

Well, I got mine like a month after launch for $300 plus five games (including Wii sports) and the remote, hook ups, and a little Wii back carrier. I got sick of it after a while and got rid of just about all of those games. Then, later in the summer, I got the Wii edition of Resident Evil 4 (since I really like the movies) and I could NOT STOP PLAYING. RE4 is alot better on the Wii than the GameCube. I also just got Manhunt 2, since I enjoyed the hell out of the first one on PS2, and Manhunt 2 is pretty awesome, albeit less blood and carnage than the original. Manhunt 2 is alot of damn fun. HIGHLY RECCOMEND THAT ONE. Almost gonna get SM Galaxy come next paycheck. Still...Manhunt 2 and RE4 are the best games I've played on the Wii by far.

There's an overall decent games drought, I'm having a hard time picking an existing game for my PS3, I want something with a good storyline and long lasting experience, might get The Orange Box when it comes out, plenty to play, and whilst I've played the original HL2, I haven't played any of the "episodes", which are what I want it for. Portal will be fun too, but Team Fortress 2 isn't exactly any use when my PS3 has no online.

Ironically, the reason I'm eyeing the Wii is the Virtual Console...That has to count for something, yes?

The Virtual Console is a good idea and I've bought a few classic games games. What I've found though is it's actually cheaper to hunt down buy a Second hand Sega Megadrive or Snes and buy the games in their original cases with their manual and everything. Not so good I guess if your trying to save space but if your passionate about games like myself having the the original setups is a wonderful thing.

The reason I don't want a Wii right now is for the same reason I didn't want a DS right away,
Nintendo seems to have no concept of quality control,
Publishers and Developers will constantly release rubbish games on the most "innovative" console,
so as long as people are still making games like "Ninjabread Man", I'll not be getting a wii any time soon.

Trouble is, Manhunt 2 has been banned in the UK so Shadowbound couldn't buy it.

Resident Evil 4 is fantastic, easily one of the best games I've ever played. The Wii is certainly not a hard-core gaming console but there are some excellent and unique games on it and I for one love the control system. I'll be getting a 360 this Christmas as I'm missing out on some classics right now. Bioshock, The Orange Box, Mass Effect are all on my list. I wish I had the money to build an uber-PC for Crysis but that's not going to happen right now.

I see no reason to be excited over Virtual Console when you can get all the games available for it free to play via emulation, which usually are much better emulated on the PC anyway, at least in the PAL regions. The VC games are ridiculously overpriced.

Plus, as another person said, it's cheaper anyway just to buy the original games most of the time.

While it's cheaper, it's messy, more cords, more plugs, takes up more space. Virtual console is good, I hope they allow storing virtual console games on flash memory cards, since the Wii only has 512MB.

yeah, you can store on flash cards....but really, you gotta remember that a lot of the games were from the 8 bit and 16 bit eras....they're not very big. the n64 games are by far the biggest but even then....those are about the size of a 3 minute song...if that.

they have very stringent quality control, actually (from a technical/QA perspective). your problem is content control...which i think a lot of manufacturers are reluctant because of how costly it is to have to build a game from scratch or completely revise and revamp the control system of an existing title. but they should be coming around in the next year or so since sales are so high and it will make money to put games out on the system.

the thing that'll really break the wii into third party gaming is if a game like halo (third party game that just lays waste to the other third party games) comes along for the wii...which will probably hit the system by 2009 (no insider info here...i'm just giving the smaller houses a couple years to really develop a game for the system and develop a good game for the system....not a halfassed game like red steel.
