Final Fantasy is probably my favorite game series. My favorites are 7 & 10 for their storylines and FF Tactics for the gameplay and storyline. What do you guys think of it?

Have you played the 9th one. I find that most final fantasy people have seen it and ignored it for the cartoonish style, but its the art style that makes it my favorite.

Was a huge fan of FF 1, FF6 and FF7. However, always preferred Chrono Trigger.

FF1 - Awesome references to real world mythology and I liked the cliche use of the four elements.

FF6 - Amazing epic storyline with numerous engaging characters.

FF7 - Epic gameplay, epic storyline, loved the mini-games. I only wish that Vincent (The coolest looking char in the whole game), had a better limit break and more damage with his shotgun/pistols.
Seriously, you can waste hours just wandering around Golden Saucer or breeding your Chocobos, improving materia or readying yourself for Diamond and Ruby weapon... I loved the open-ended gameplay (Which is why I am also a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls Series).

Hi ! my name is Duku. A Star wars and Japanse animated Cartoon/ Manga fan.

I also like Final Fantasy. My favorites are the only 2 I played, the 2 and 10. My favorite character of the Final Fantasy 10 is Auron. (He ressembles the Ninja "Edge" in FFII, and I also like "Yang" in FFII)

Cheers.

My favorites are: (using the Japanese numbering system here) 4, 6, 7 and 10. FF4 in particular was the first RPG of any kind that I ever played, and I have a lot of good memories from playing that game (especially the story, probably one of the best of any RPG). I really want to get the GBA remake/update version of the game (along with the FF 1 & 2 combo).

I think FF12 looks really cool... some people are complaining about the change in combat systems, but it sounds kinda like the combat is going to be just like the KOTOR games, which I loved... the perfect mix between real-time and turn-based IMO

I admit it was not Since 2003 that I played Final Fantasy,

And as for FFII, I played it 10 years ago.

My brother seemed to be more of a fan thane me, because he has broght the game home. (As for FFVIII, he took it, but never liked it, plus the PC was a PI, a real slow mo !)

He also got FFII (among other games), and trying it on PC was a disaster, so slow it was.

Final Fantasy is one of my fave game series of all time. I've played (using the Jap's number system)

1, 6 (Skyrender's Translation), 7, 8, X, X-2, Tactics Advance.

1- Loved it (and doing a White Mage only game is real fun).
6. Excellent story, and one of the best villains in Final Fantasy history (Kefca). Plus, the Chocobo Riding music is just soo memorable.
7. A true masterpiece. The battles were great, and difficult at times. The story (even though I'm still on disk 1, disk 2 is messed up beyond repair ;_;) is engaging and well done. And the graphics are good (for being the first FF game to jump to 3d anyway).
8. Currently playing. Takes what FFVII did and builds on it. Plus the story is graet (as always)/
X- I liked it, and the CGI sequenes were awesome; but I just think the game was a bit too linear and too many CG sequences. Plus, the return to a turn-based battle system instead of Real-time was eh. But it had a good storyline, and Auron is just awesome.
X-2- PLayed a little bit of it, but had to return to my cousin. I liked it a bit.
Tactics Advance- I've always loved strategy games; and this one has kept me busy for quite some time.

Square/Square-Enix has proven time and time again how to make a damn fine RPG; and I am eagerly awaiting XII. Although, admittedly, I'm waiting for Kingdom Hearts II more than XII :D . I think it will become the greatest game ever made (KH was just soo brilliant).

Do note that I have also played FFII (following the Japanese Numbering), and FF-X.

We had FF-VIII, at home (on a PI PC), but I never played it. (By now, I have no idea if we still have them; we also had a compilation of many old memorablia games, including FF-II).
On the same PI, trying FF-II brought me back a few years (the time I was still in High School).

PS: In the same line, I liked Grandia ! ! (I hrard that the III came out) on PSII, but since I really despise PSII, it is unlikely I will buy that game (or let alone my PS2, damaged for some 3 years now).

Note: A real fun Game, sorry for the digressing, ia Maestro ... (A maestro game, which I never really played, but really adored, beccause it was cute) that game is basiacally you, the palyer who is trying to compose like the real composers, and a gage on left side of screnn measures success...

Cheers.

I love Final Fantasy. Though I admit the sense of uniqueness between the worlds in the games is starting to fade away with Cloud and Leon (japanese for Squall in FFVIII but I could be wrong) in the same game together (by that I mean KH1 and 2). Still I'm getting KH2 and FFXII regardless.

Has anyone played the new versions of 1, 2 and 4 on Game Boy Advance. Updated graphics and music. They have new dungeons and extensions to the original stories. In 2 you can find out what happened to the deceased characters after they they got killed. In 4 you can switch party members at the end of the game and defeat the final boss with a different party. It affects what happens in the new dungeon. I hear there are going to be new game boy versions of 5 and 6 too.

THIS MESSAGE WAS ORIGINALLY Posted around January 2006.

Other than FF-II, FFX (which I played and reached somewhat far), and FF-VIII (which I have seen briefly), I don't know of any other version ...

PS: I don't know if I still have the FF CDs...

NB: edit, (Sept 12th 2007): no, it is unlikely that I have the CDs. I parted last august with plenty old PC softwares and games... (pobably, within it, was the FF-II/ FF-VIII game(s))...
