I actually always gravitate towards natural magic classes/jobs, like Druid and Ranger. Druids in particular seem to be quite varied in their roles and abilities. Rangers with a stealth side - like early EQ2 - are lots of fun too, with plenty of roots and snares that complement bows very nicely. And of course, I can't live without SOW.

In WOW playing a Priest is full time job because you are responsible for keeping you and your party alive and healthy. If you like to help people it can be rewarding. Also you and a tank are the two most sought after classes.

I like a good pet class. My favourite being Meta-Physicist in Anarchy Online because the pets are very powerful and you can send them out to fight alone while hiding scared and you controlled 3 pets at once. 1 was for attacking, 1 for mezzing and 1 for healing. I like pet classes in other games but the pets are a little weak. In AOC I am necromancer with 8 pets but whatever I attack ignores the pets and comes straight for me this is not good.

I do play some melee characters like a mix of attack or defensive tanks and sometimes a melee class that can heal itself like a paladin.

In MMOs, I always start out with a class that has wide-range attacks, until I realise I hate that.

Then I usually turn over to a magic class that can heal or will be able to heal at a higher level.

Well here's all the jobs I've played across the 2 MMO's I've played the most:

FFXI
white mage - 75
beastmaster - 70
summoner - 61
black mage - 40
ninja - 37
ranger - 35
warrior - 20
paladin - 20

WOW
rogue - 70
paladin - 63
warrior - 45
druid - 43
mage - 35

So I've pretty much played every kind of job there is. I think I prefer tanking jobs now, I think previously I prefered healing. I like being important.

I prefer a healer support type class

I like the World of Warcraft holy priest and restro druid best of any classes and in any games I have played.

I tend towards melee 'tank' roles. Something about wandering up to a critter 10 times my size and stabbing it's toes (generally annoying it to death) appeals to me. Can't stand melee damage classes though.

i usually go with BLM-type (damage dealing with magic) but ive also found that tanking as a PLD, and have also found that skillchaining as a SAM is quite fun o_o

<-- FFXI since jan 2005

only got a 60blm taru with random things lvld to 25-30, as well as a 40sam elvaan alt, cause i dont log on much during the school year

I tend to favor pet classes. They are usually great soloers.

In WoW, I like to play as a paladin because they can be really versatile depending on what the group's need is.

Ranged attack or healer-- I don't like getting hit so I love the bubbles the priest can use in WoW. I did level a warrior to 30 but couldn't take it anymore. I've gotten hooked on hunters because the pet can tank for you while you do the ranged attack, and you can heal the pet too which is a priesty sort of thing. Also as a Draenei you can heal, I just started one, my first Alliance. I have a 67 priest, and a 38 hunter (Horde).

I didn't like healing for instances because no one stayed in my line of sight or let me restore manna. I gave up and switched to shadow.

I always play a mage. Usually a fire mage. It just seems more effective. Melee is boring, I hate having to chase things around to kill them :P

Of course, in GW, playing a mesmer or a ritualist is interesting because it's got this complex if/then feel to it. Very subtle = very fun.

LEEEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!

That's pretty much it--but I let people know that it's my style. Point me and unleash me, then scrape me up afterwards.

Hey, it's a game, I get to have unlimited bravado with no serious consequences.
